Thursday, July 4; 1907. The Pig; or, Reason Makes the Difference. "In what three things," said a father to his little son, "does our pig resemble some children?" "In looks," said the little boy, "for he never washes his face." I "Well, in what else?" said the father. "In laziness," said the boy, "for he does no sort of work." "Well, what is the third point of resemblance?" said the father. "He eats and sleeps too much, I suspect," said the boy. "Yes," said the father, "and per haps this is the reason why he is so lazy. Now can you tell any point in which he does not resemble dirty, lazy and greedy children?" "No," said the boy. "Well I will tell you," said the father. The dirty boy knows that he ought to be neat; the lazy boy knows that he ought to be industri ous ; the greedy boy knows that he ought not to eat too much; but the dirty, lazy and greasy pig does not know any better." , C. H. WILLIAMS. What Dorothy Sprinkled. "I think I'll help father sprinkle," said Dorothy. The garden hose was lying on the ground, and soon the clear, cool drops of water were falling on the daisies and pansies in her flower bed. All at once she heard, "Tweet! tweet! tweet-tweet! " and saw something fluttering and flitting about under a rose-bush. She dropped the hose and ran to see what it was: and what do you think she found? A tiny baby bird had fallen out of its nest, down into the grass, and Dorothy had sprinkled it- with water from the hose until its feathers were so wet that it could not fly, but could only hop along and say, "Tweet, tweet!" When Dorothy saw what she had done, she took the little bird in her warm hands, holding it very carefully that she might not hurt it, and ran to the house to show it to her mother. Mother put the little wet bird in a basket, lined with cottoh, and set it on the window-sill. Then Dorothy gave "it some bread crumbs to eat; and. when its feathers all were dry again, she took it out of the basket and put it in the grass under a rose bush, where the mother bird could find- it. After years of experiment a new scientific remedy has been found that not only relieves, but absolutely cures Rheumatism and kindred dis eases, to stay cured. Rheumatism is caused by an excess of poisonous acids in the blood. The new discov ery RHEMUACIDE, though purely vegetable, and acting through na ture's channels, neutralizes these acids and sweeps all poisons and harmful germs out of the blood. At the same time it tones up the stomach and regulates the liver and kidneys. RHEUMACIDE, therefore, cures the disease permanently, because it removes the cause. It has cured hun dreds of cases after the most noted doctors and hospitals have failed. RHEUMACIDE cured James Wilkes, of Dillon, S. C, after he had been held in.bed by rheumatism for three years and his feet were drawn up al most to liis back. This is only one of the many marvelous cures RHEU MACIDE : has already performed.
