Moore, of Youngsville, is the owner of a four-legged chicken. Dewey Pollard, aged eight years, died last Wednesday, July 3rd, in this city. Four mules were stolen in Orange County Monday morning. They were owned by the county. Mr. L. H. Ragan, of Brownwood, Texas, is visiting his brother, Mr. J. F. Ragan, in this city. A small house at 311 West Lenoir Street caught on fire Monday. But little damage was done. Mr. I. H. Paris, a well-known and popular insurance man here, is in Dallas, Ga., for a short time. Revenue officers destroyed two dis tilleries in Chatham and one in Johnston during the past week. Mr. Morris Goldburg left Sunday on a visit to Baltimore, Washington, Philadedphia, Atlantic City and New York. William, aged ten months, died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Patterson, at Caraleigh, Friday. Mr. II. B. Chamblee, a carpenter, fell from a twenty-foot scaffold on Oakwood Avenue Tuesday and broke his arm. Lena, the seven-year-old son. of Mr. A. H. Yearby, of this city, stepped on a nail a few days ago which wound ed his foot. Oswald, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Warren, died at Rex Hospital Satur day after an illness of four weeks. He was nineteen years old. The Cardenas Telephone Company has increased its stock from $1,000 to $3,000, and will connect with the Raleigh companies, it is said. Mr. J. B. Myrick, aged eighty seven, an inmate of the Soldiers' Home, died in this city last Friday. He was from Chatham County. William, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Mack L. Bradley, died in this city Friday. The burial was at Hec tor's Creek Church, in Harnett County. Mr. Julian C. Beavers died at the State Hospital Monday. He had been ill for a long time. He was formerly a traveling salesman. A wife and son survive him. The body of Chas. T. Oakley, of Orange County, was found floating in a small lake in Lakewood Park at Durham Tuesday. Suicide or mur der, is the question. Mr. Edward S. Owens died in this city Monday morning. He was 37 years old and left a wife and three children. The remains were taken to Stanford, Ky., for burial. Mr. H. B. Greason, superintendent Raleigh Cotton Mill, has returned from New York. While away he pur chased and will install a set of com bers in that well-known mill. Luther Young and William Eller by, colored, were before Police J us tice Badger Tuesday charged with stealing $50 worth of linotype metal from the News and Observer, They were bound over to court. We are greatly indebted to Mr. J. D. Honeycutt, R. F. D. No. 1, Ra leigh, for a copy of the Enterprise of February 21, 1907, that issue havin? fallen short as to file copies. We can use a few more copies, however. Mr. W .P. Matthews was fined $53 this week for selling soft drinks on Sunday at his store. He appealed to the Superior Court. The general opin ion is that if it is legal for; drug- V stores to sell drinks on Sunday others ' can. ' , , .. .. : - The excellent High School at Cary, conducted by Prof. E. L. Middleton, Is growing fast. A two-story addi tion to the building, 28 x 60 feet in size, is being erected, and will be ready for the fall term. We are indebted to our esteemed friend, Mr. J; D. Honeycutt, of Ra leigh, R. F,. D. No. 1, for a copy of the Enterprise of February 21, 1907. We will be glad to get two or three additional copies, however, as but one file copy of that issue was saved. The infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Bannister died in Rich mond Saturday and was buried in that city. Mr. Bannister is manager of the AVestern Union Telegraph of fice here, and his wife was stopping with relatives in Richmond when the baby died. Still at It. Our fall poet handed in the follow ing short poem the other day and said we could publish it or throw it j in the wastc-uasKet: "Meal in the meal tub, Chickens in the coop; Just picked up a $4 bill, And the baby has the croup." Look Up Your Old Papers. The issue of the Raleigh Enter prise for February 20, 1907, ran short and we have but one copy left. The State Hospital Commission has authorized the erection of a separate building for the care of epileptic pa tients. It will be located near the present hospital and Barrett & Thompson, of this city, architects, will prepare plans.
