Anti-Railroad Mania.
(From the New York Tribune.)
North Carolina seems to be afflict
ed with an anti-railroad mania. It
went about passing its fare law with
just as much unseemly passion as it
now shows in enforcing it. The leg
islative discussion of fares prpvoked
such violent outbursts that the mod
erate and cool-headed Charlotte Ob
server denounced the Legislature as
a "menace." In the hearing before
the Railroad Committee President
Finley, of the Southern Railway, was
treated so discourteously as to create
almost a State scandal and to alien
ate for a time public support from
the radical fare reducers. There was
no examination into the financial ef
fects of a reduced fare. The commit
tee asked figures from the railroads
bearing on this question and gave the
railroads four days to furnish them!
The railroads explained that it would
take months to complete the informa
tion. Before the bill was passed Gov
ernor Glenn, who is an old attorney
for the Southtern Railway, was a
conservative and was counseling
moderation. He advised that the rate
be made 2 cents. The whole agita
tion is said by a writer in the Rich
mond (Va.) Timas-Dispatch to be
pure politics. Every demagogue is
endeavoring to outbid every other
demagogue for the support of the
rabble. Perhaps Governor Glenn in
his present course is trying to atone
for his conservatism of last winter.
His record as a railroad lawyer and
advocate of moderation would seem
to need burnishing up, considering
the present temper of North Carolina
Fighting the Federal Courts gives
him his chance to outdo the other
demagogues.

GOOD NEWS FOR RALEIGH.
Science at Last Discovers a Real Cure
for Rheumatism.
After years of experiment a new
scientific remedy has been found that
not only relieves, but absolutely
cures Rheumatism and kindred dis
eases, to stay cured. Rheumatism is
caused by an excess of poisonous
acids in the blood. The new discov
ery RH EMU AC IDE, though purely
vegetable, and acting through na
ture's channels, neutralizes these
acids and sweeps all poisons and
harmful germs out of the blood. At
the same time it tones up the stomach
and regulates the liver and kidneys.
RHEUMACIDE, therefore, cures
the disease permanently, because it
removes the cause. It has cured hun
dreds of cases after the mo3t noted
doctors and hospitals have failed.
RHEUMACIDE cured James Wilkes,
of Dillon, S. C, after he had been
held in bed by rheumatism for three
years and his feet were drawn up al
most to his back. This is only one
of the many marvelous cures RHEU
MACIDE has already performed.
RHEUMACIDE is curing many case3
of Rheumatism, Sciatica, Lumbago,
Gout, Kidney Trouble, Indigestion,
and Constipation, right in this com
munity to-day.
Because it has cured so many oth
ers, we believe it will cure you. All
the leading druggists In this, place
sell and recommend RHEUMACIDE.
