8 Local Matters A young; son of Mr. Fred Staudt fell and broke his arm Tuesday af ternoon. Mr. Pink Pope, of East Durham, is visiting his uncle, Mr. J. W. Pope, on R. F. D. No. 4, Raleigh. Mr. Charles B. King, of this city, and Miss Nettie Pennington, were married at Warsaw yesterday. Harvey Curtis, a colored drayman, was badly injured Wednesday of last week when his horse ran away. Mrs. Carrie Nation spoke at Pullen Park twice on Monday. An enthusi astic, but dry audience, heard her. Cary Mason, an alleged notorious blockader living in Chatham Coun ty, was arrested by Deputy Marshal Jordan Friday. A barn owned by Mr. Robert Tyson, who lives between Sanders Street and Boy lan Avenue, was burned yester day afternoon. Loss, about $100. The four-year-old son of Mr. Hu bert Rambeau fell from a fence Tues day afternoon and his hip-bone was. broken. He was carried to the hos pital. The matter of extending. the street car lines and building new ones has been agreed upon by the Board of Aldermen and the Street Car Com pany. Mr. Jesse Winborn, formerly of Wake County, lately of Elon College, died at that place Tuesday night, aged seventy-five. He was a good citizen. Mr. Richard E. Crabtree, a well known book-binder, died in this city Tuesday morning. He was about fifty-six years of age, and is survived .. by a wife. - Prof. J. E. Dowd, of Leesville, has been elected principal of the new high school at Garner. The new $2,500 school building there will soon be completed. Mr. Emmett B. Cain, son of Mr. J. F. Cain, died in this city yesterday of malarial fever. He was twenty five years old, and was an industri ous, useful young man. Walter Parker, colored, a railroad hand, while drunk, insulted Mr. Ed Barbee Monday. Mr. Barbee knock ed him down. Parker was later fined $28.15 in the police court. On Monday afternoon Alonzo Bird, aged twenty-five, a colored nnn, was drowned near the State Hospital while swimming in Walnut Creek, where the water was about sixteen . . feet deep. Two negroes, Peter Utley and Henry Kennedy, both of House Creek Township, were bound over for court by Justice of the Peace Separk yes terday on the charge of carrying con cealed weapons. The King-Marsh Company of this city , has been chartered. George Marsh is president and treasurer, R. W. King vice-president and E. B. Crow secretary. It will do a whole sale grocery and fruit business. Mr. I. N. Hobgood, a well-known merchant at Fuquay Springs, is sell ing a new churn that is remarkable for its simplicity and for the easy and quick work it performs. Evi dently it is superior to anything of the kind on the market. John Henry Bullock, said to be an old offender against the revenue laws, was arrested here Monday by Deputy Marshall Jordan. John was from Franklin County and had evad ed the officers for a long time, but when an excursion headed this way it brought him, and that was his undoing. Death of Mr. Woollcott. Mr. William Woollcott, a promi nent citizen and business man, died at Rex Hospital in this city Friday afternoon at 5:50 after a long ill ness. ; : , :"' Mr. Woollcott was born in London, England, and was about sixty-seven years of age. He came to this coun try when he was thirty years of age and had lived in Raleigh for more than thirty, years, being in the mer cantilo business. He left a wife, two sons, Messrs.
