Green. State Treasurer Lacy has gone to Arizona to get relief from asthma. He has been there once or twice be fore. ... -.. Claude Sanders, colored, of John ston County, has been sent to the Wake County roads for toting a "razor." Mrs. John G. Carroll died in this city last Thursday. She was the wife of the Superintendent of the Ellington Lumber Co. "Sis in New York," a comedy, will be the attraction at the Academy next Saturday. It is probably a fair show of the kind. Mrs. P. Bailey, of Nash County, died at Rex Hospital, in this city, last Thursday, following an opera tion a few hours previous. Mr. John Justice and Miss Ches sie Matthews were married in this city Tuesday night. It was a run away affair, both being young. Manuel Debnam, colored, of Roles ville, is held here charged with send ing obscene matter through the mails.. The bond was fixed at $200. We are glad to learn that Mr. Johnson Sorrell, who has had fever, is improving rapidly. He is one of our industrious and deserving men. In the past few weeks more than eight million . brick have been ship ped to Raleigh to supply in part the material for the building boom go ing on here. . ; Mr. W. H. Herbert, a painter working for Mr. A. L. Causee, fell from a scaffold Friday, breaking one hip and the shock caused a slight concussion of the brain. Messrs. C. B. Crowell and J. B. Tugwell have purchased a controlling interest in the Bobbitt-Wynne Drug Co., here and will conduct the busi ness after January 1st. An entertainment was held at Garner Friday night for the benefit of the school. Ten dollars and sev enty cents was taken in. It will be used to beautify the school grounds. Two barrels of unstamped whis key were seized by revenue i officers at the dispensary Monday. Ifr is sup posed that the revnue stamps had been applied, but had gotten rub bed off in transit. Mr. E. B. Brady, freight agent for the 'Seaboard Air Line in this city died Monday, after a long Illness from typhoid fever. He was forty years old. ; The remains were .carried to Kernerville for burial.. . ? On last Friday a fight occurred between Mr. Frank Stronach and his son Norfleet, and Mr. J. P. Leathers and his son, John Leatherswho both live in the country. It was over some business matter arid was 'fierce for a. time. ) ; .' Southern Express Company was tried before Police Justice Badger Monday and placed under bond for' $200, which has not been given. Faithful Service. For more than thirty-one years Mr. J. W. Brlnkley has been sawyer and manager of the lumber plant known as Wilson's Mill about twen ty miles East of Raleigh. These mills were established by Messrs. C. M. and W. G. Wilson and are still owned by their sons. In addition to cutting lumber of all kinds, they manufacture sash, doors and blinds. They are now cutting a fine lot of white oak timber which will be "' made into doors, being su perior to soft wood for that purpose. A large number of good men are employed in the business and Mr. Brlnkley is held in high esteem by all of them. He Fired the Stick. Effective at once, the one-dollar Saturday and Sunday round-trip rates are withdrawn. Effective Saturday, November 16, and each Saturday thereafter until further notice, tickets will be sold from all stations to Raleigh and Fayetteville at rate of one fare for round-trip, with Minimum rate of 2 5 cents. ' .Tickets will be on sala for and honored only on the morning trains; and will be good to return only on date of sale.
