At a meeting of Sunday school leaders of Tryon it was unan imously decided to hold the Polk County Sunday School Conven tion on September 17-18. Ar rangements have been made for the convention to be held in the Congregational church at Tryon. . D- w- Sims, General Superl mtendentf the North Carolina Sunday SchooTAssociation, was also present in this meeting, and made many helpful suggestions to the workers as to the best wav Lto advertise and arrange the pro gram torthe convention. Among those present in the meeting were Rev. W. A. . Black, P. G. Morris, John Orr, Nelson Jackson, Jr., D. W. Simmonsrs. E. Sloan, J. B. Hester. The following local committee on arrangements was named Prof. D. W. Simmins, Superin tendent Episcopal Sunday school ; S. E. Sloan, Superintendent Bap tist Sunday school; Nelson Jack son; Jr., Superintendent Con gregational Sunday school; P. G. Morris, Superintendent Metho dist Sunday school. ( Many of the local Sunday school workers will take part on the program. Besides D. W. Sims, the other principal speaker will be Miss Flora Davis, Assis tant Superintend of the North Carolina Sunday School Associa tion. Both Mr. Sims and Miss Davis know the Sunday school worK ana are recognized as ex perts, There will be four sessions of the convention Saturday night, beptemoer l an, ana morning afternoon and night on Sunday, September 18th. Clinics have al ready been' held , in forty-four counties. More than three thousand children have been op erated on during the past two years. The North Carolina State Medical Society inv its recent meeting at Pinehurst endorsed by an overwhelming vote the conduct of this work and the best physicians of the state heartily endorse and commend the clinics.
