A good library is unques
tionably an asset to a school ;
but a library pluus a good li
brarian is worth mu<Th more.
The plan to engage a paid li
brarian to keep the, school li
brary open at least one after
noon a week has materialized.
This will be welcome news to
thinking people who realize
what the proper use of books
means to the studenet.

Parent-Teacher Association
The January meeting of the
Parent-Teachers' Ass'n held
Monday , afternoon was un
usually interesting, and the
social hour with the business
meeting was most delightful.
Several new members were
added to the roll which now
numbers half a hundred. The
membership committee is seek
ing to enlist all the patrons of
th school as members, either
active or associate. The P. T.
A. gets the credit for briging
about the condition which en
ables the school to meet the re
quirement of State Board of
having a library of three hun
dred volumes in the High
School library. The associa
tion voted to contribute $25 to
the general school library now
being increased daily.
After the business session
the Rev. Mr. Burnett addressed
the meeting, and his audience
was delighted with the speak

Try on Bee: Tryon N: C- ? ?
Will you be so kind as to send
me a copy of .your paper (Try
on Bee) and will you state in it
the price of hard wood fit
ted for the stovve; We Jfave to
pay 17 dollars a cord for it
here. When I was in Tryon j
18 years ago it sold then for
1.75 a cord all fitted. It 's
from 20 to SO below zero here '
half the time aficf'we 'have to'
keep roaring . fires gping all.,
the time or freeze, you that live
in a warm climate ought to ap
preciate it. Coal is 18 dollars
a ton and hard to get. We
happen to have a wood lot.
There must needs be much suf
fering here this winter. It's
my experience here in winter
that one can't get much out of
life here shut up in the house
| tending fires- For my part I
i would rather live in a milder
clmate. I may come to Tryon
again.
Yours Respectfully,
MRS W. W GAMMON

Director R W/ Kilgore- announ

Division of Entomology,- will be
stationed among the peach

this season to help in develop

have Aberdeen as his head
quarters and will be located at
that point after March 10.
Results -show that the amount
of wormy fruit was reduced
from 38 per cent down to about
six percent in the harvested
peaches by using the proper
spraying and dusting methods
last year. * Mr. Leiby had four

the experiments \^bre made
