SUBSCRIPTION $2.00 ?|ER YEAR
Township Finals in Better
Biscuit Campaign.
?
Beginning last Tuesday after
noon at Columbus and closing
Saturday at Saluda the tpwn
ship finals in the Better. Bis
cuit Campaign were held. In
this campaign there are three
outstanding facts that have
been clearly demonstrated. In
the first place, the teachers in
all the schools of the county,
with only three exceptions,
have shown that they are real
ly interested in the develop
ment of the boys and the girls
and in the welfare of the com
munity, by giving their extra
time to help make this . better
bread project a success. I per
sonally, appreciate this splen
did spirit of helpful coopera
tion that our teachers have
? manifested.
In the second place; there
has been such a fine spirit
shown both by the boys and
, girls, and by the men and wo
men in this work. The peo
ple of the respective commun
ities have learned to know each
other better by actually strik
ing shoulders with each other
and competing in a friendly
way for the various prizes
which were offered* When
the prizes were awarded all
seemed to rejoice together in
the general success, as well as
in the personal sucessful prize
In the third place: the abil
winner.
In the third place: the abil
ity, untiring and skillful work
of our Home Demonstration
Agent, Miss Padgett, has been
conclusively shown. There
are several factors that have
contributed to the splendid
success of this campaign, but
without the Home Agent all
these other factors could not
would not have functioned. We
can not estimate in dollars
and cents the true w(yth of
this undertaking. Its value
can only be determined in
terms of better living and in
the execution of that practical
life knowledge that makes pos
sible strong minds and sweet
spirits in strong well developed
bodies.
