Mr. Cuthbert Pruden of Jackson is the guest of his aunt, Mrs. Carey Carter. Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Britt and family spent Sunday in Clin ton. Mrs. W. M. Britton and dau ghter of Greenville, Tenn., ar rived Sunday to spend several weeks with Mr. Britton who is manager of the Brick ware house. Mr. and Mrs. Britton are occupying the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Southerland who are in Rocky Mount. ’ Rev. W. P. M. Currie left Wednesday for Red Springs to attend a session of the Presby terian Synod. Misses Sadie and Louise Wiggins returned last week from Wilson and Goldsboro where they visited friends. State Treasurer Chas. M. Johnson spent a few hours Sat urday in town with Dr. and Mrs. R. C. Williams. WWW Mrs. Earlene Southerland and Mrs. Martha J. Dorse en tertained Saturday evening honoring the birthday of Miss Lucy Catherine South erland and also her week-end guests, Miss Dot Farlow and Frances Black Southerland. The home was lovely with if8 decorations of summer flowers and the dining room was cen tered with a birthday cake with burning tapers. The table was covered with a beautiful ban quet cloth and graced with a silver bowl of white flowers with burning tapers on each 9ide.
