... r- 'Z' ‘ me Agent Reports On Work During Past Month By Miss Jamye Martin The highlights in Home Dem onstration work in April were the Adult and 4-H Cpring Fed orations. Both proved to be a ffreat success and boys, girls and women are locking for ward to even better ones an other time. The Home Agent was very 'much pleased with the attend ance of the women since the weather was so disagreeable. It looked as if we would have a flood at times but over 300 club women waded through it to their annual meeting. At the calling of the roll it was found that Mineral Springs, Outlaw’s . Bridge, Beulaville and Rbck fieh answered 100 percent. Thej most outstanding part of the] program was a stunt put on by each club. A remark by Mrs. B. C. Wells of the Kenansville Woman’s Club expresses, I think, the opinion of all pre sent. She said, “Everyone of the stunts were good, in fact the best I have ever seen”. The 4-H C'ubs did not have weather conditions to over come, for it was an ideal day. So, on the dot of ten all the speakers and most of the 250 boys and girls were eager to start. The all day program consisted of speaking, recrea tion, song and stunt contests, display of project work (Har ry Williams of Beulaville Club and Violet Komegay of B. F. Grady Club won free trips to camp for the best piece of work) lunch, and the crowning of the Health King and Queen of Duplin. Sixteen adult clubs were held * during the month with an at tendance of 368. Ten clubs scored 100. The Miller, Tea chey, Rockfish and Mineral Springs Clubs had a flower or bulb exchange at their April meeting. Two Recreational Schools were held with an at tendance of 285. Several others were held at the conclusion of the club program. I Duplin has twenty women who will go on a tour to the meeting of the Associated 1 Farm Women of the World in Washington, D. C., the first week in June. Many Club wo 'men visited the Azalea Gardens in Wilmington the 13th and 14th of April. Eight regular 4-H Clubs were held during the month with an I attendance of 423. Three call 'meetings were held at Faison,| Beulaville, and Chinquapin in j regards to the Health Contest with 51 attending. In conducting the work the, agent travelled 1017 miles. | Twenty homes were visited, thirty-three office calls and ten phone calls were made. The subject for study during April was “Commercial Rugs”. During the agent’s demonstra tion the following points were demonstrated: (1). The pur-j pose of rugs and'carpets. (2). The purpose of the particular J rug one wishes to buy. (3). The selection of rugs as to color and design. (4). The cleaning of rugs. (5). The kinds and quality of rugs. (6). The use of linoleum in the home. Samples of the seven main kinds of floor covering were shown and their price and quality given.
