BRYANT—Every pile will have my personal attention Whiteville Mart Gets Distinction Spirited Sales Reported As Whiteville Maintains High est Belt Records Whiteville, Sept 9. — With good tobacco much in demand, and common grades selling at satisfactory prices, Whiteville’s fast growing tobacco market this week has experienced spir ited sales on each pile. During the seven-day period just elap sed, hundreds of thousands of pounds of bright yellow weed have been converted into dol lar®, which have found their way into the pockets of farm ers. Already this season, millions of grades of tobacco have been auctioned off in Whiteville warehouses, and the market each week brings thousands up on thousands of dollars to the farmers of this and outlaying territories. PICNIC AT BLIZZARD’S STORE COMES SATURDAY S. A. Blizzard’s annual picnic at his stare near Beulaville will be held Saturday, he announc ed this week. Plans this year call for a good band to furnish music for dancers, and plenty of barbecue and hot lunches. The grounds will remain light ed until 11 o’clock. Smith, Onslow farm agent, has charge of the de monstration features earlier in the day. These demonstrations will be concerned wth poultry, horticulture, seed innoculation, insecticides and electrical equipment. Those taking part in the de monstrations include C. O. Boll inger, state poultryman; J. C. Weaver, State College, Raleigh; R. L. Lowom, agronomist in forage crops; Dr. R. W. Leiby, professor of entomology, State College, G. A. Meckstroth, small fruit pathologist, Coastal Plain Experiment Station. Contests of both an educa tional and athletic nature will be presented with W. H. Rob bins, manager of Penderlea Homesteads, in charge. He will be assisted by Dr. G. K. Mid dleton, agronomist; E. R. Col lins, state experiment station; T. M. Fields, teacher of voca tional agriculture in the Cle ment high school, Wallace; C. V. Morgan, Pender farm agent. Anderson of the Pender County Training School for colored children at Rocky Point, is preparing an educa tional exhibit relating *o home beautification, this being ar ranged especially for the Ne gro Farmers’ Field Day which follows the Field Day for white, but the exhibit will be put in place in time to be avail- j able on ITIhursday as well as Friday.
