Harrell has re covered from his recent illness and returned this week to his studies at Porter Military Ac ademy, Charleston, S. C. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Caven ■« augh have moved to their farm several miles from here. The family of Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Rich have moved into the Cav enaugh home and will reside here. Miss Margaret Teachey of Richmond is visiting her parr ents, Mr. and Mrs. Coy Tea chey. Friends of W. C. Worsley will regret to learn he contin ues to be ill at his home. Julian Ward, the young son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ward, is receiving treatment in a Gastonia hospital. Eris Worsley is recovering from an appendicitis operation in a Wilmington hospital. Recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Johnson were Mr. and Ms. Robert Cowan and Arnold Cowan, of Maple Hill; Miss Edith Cowan and Mrs. Henry Everett of Wilmington. Hr. and Mrs. M. A. Hatcher of Hamlet, who attended the Newton wedding anniversary, were overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Boney. Artis Ipock and daughter, Mrs. Frank McGinnis, of Golds boro, were guests Sunday of Mrs. Sarah Reid. Mrs. John F. Hobbs of Goldsboro was the house guest of Mrs. Laurie Harrell for setferal days during the past week. Dickson went to Kinston one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sidney Bullock of Goldsboro spent Saturday night here with Mrs. tRhad Jones. Mrs. Noble Martin of Nor folk, Va. also Mrs. A. A. Fafer, Jr., and daughter, visited rela tives here Saturday. Circles No. 1 of the Woman’s Auxiliary of Grove Presbyter ian Church met Monday after noon at 3:30 with Mrs. John A. Gavin. The Bible study was led by Mrs. F. L. Goodman. The business session was pre sided over by Mrs. J. E. Jerritt. Others taking part in the meet ing were Mesdames N. B. Bon ey, G. V. Gooding, R. V. Wells, Walter Stroud and Miss Lula Hinson. There was one visitor pre sent, Mrs. J. E. Jussely. Fruit cake and coffee were served at the close of the meeting. Circle No. 2 of the Auxiliary met Monday night at eight o’ clock with Miss Dorothy Wells as hostess, in the home of her aunt, Mrs. R. V. Wells. A good ly number of members were present. The Bible study, was led by -Miss Christine Whaley. After an interesting business session; the hostess served re freshments consisting of a sal ad course. Among The Sick Mesdames L. A. Beasley, E. R. Penny, C. E. Quinn and W. J. Pickett have been on the sick list recently. Mrs. Oliver Stokes has been in a Kinston hospital for treatment for several days. D. D. McMurty returned to his home here Saturday, after having spent several weeks in a hospital in Kinston for an arm infection, which necessi tated the grafting of new skin. Mrs. J. M. Brock has return ed from a Durham hospital af ter having received treatment for several weeks following an operation made before Christ mas. Mrs. Leon Merritt is a pat ient in a Durham hospital. Miss Thelma Smith and Miss Nancy Jussely accompanied Miss “Teence” Ward to Grady School last Friday night to witness an interesting basket ball game, refereed by Miss Ward. Miss Minnie Hobbs has re turned to Robersonville, where she teaches, after having spent the holidays here with her sis ter, Mrs. Lloyd Ferrell. Mr. andl Mrs. D. S. William son took their family on an oyster roast last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Jussely of Charleston, S. C., have been vi siting Miss Lula Hinson and Miss Nancy Jussely. Misses Louise Wells and Ma ry Edna Dobson went to Golds boro last week. Mrs. Gertrude Cooper and Mrs. Erline Southerland of Wallace visited Mrs. W. J. Pickett one day last week. Mrs. Sarah Croom is spend ing some time with relatives in BUrgaw. Mrs. Thad Jones has return ed from Spartanburg, S. C., Where she spent Christmas with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Honey cutt and daughter, Ruth Chase, were recent visitors at' Chapel Hill. Mrs. Ellis Vestal and small son, Brinson, have been visit ing relatives here. Miss Dorothy Turner enter tained her friends at a party Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Wells ac companied their daughter, Miss Mary Frances, to Flora Mac Donald College, Red Springs. Miss Eugenia Forlaw of En field spent the week-end with her mother, Mrs. E. G. Forlaw. Miss Dorothy Turner return ed to New York City Friday.
