The marquisette yoke was outlined with a motiff of hand sewn seed pearls, and long fitt ed sleeves with points over the hand. The full skirt ended in a long court train, l-jhe wore full length veil of imported illusion, • which fell from a tiara of seed pearls and tube roses. She car ried a semi-cascade bouquet of stephonotis and bouvardea show ered with Vanda Joaquin orchids, centered with hybrid orchids. With white horse hair and show ered with stephanotis on narrow white satin ribbons. Her only ornament was a string of pearls, a gift of the groom. The attendants wore gowns of American beauty velvet, with sweetheart neckline, bracelet length sleeves, fitted waist and full skirts over Elizabethian hoops. In their hair they wore haloes of matching tulle, and carried arm bouquets of pink de light roses, blue hybrid delphi nium, lavender pom-poms, tied with blue-violet satin ribbon. The maid of honor wore an emerald green velvet gown made on sim ilar line sas other attendants with green tulle halo, and car ried flowers identical with the bridesmaids. Lt. Col. Robert Johns of Greenville Army Air Base, Greenville, S. C., was the best man. The ushers were William L. Hussey, Jr., brother of the bride, Leslie N. Boney, Jr., and William J. Boney of Wilming ton, cousin of the bride; James L. Stark of Wilson, uncle of the bride. The groomsmen were: Rufus W. Stark, uncle of the bride, of Greenville, N. C., Ne vin Wagner of Richmond, Va. The bride’s mother wore a dress of flame azolea crepe with plume motiff of gold and sap phire sequins, sapphire blue el bow length gloves and a waist corsage of flame split carnations, deep blue delphinum, looped with narrow gold ribbon. Her paternal grandmother, Mrs. Charles Edward Hussey of Kin ston, N. C., wore black lace and a corsage of gardenias. Immediately after the cere mony, the bride’s parents enter tained at a reception in the com munity house. Mr. and Mrs. Albert J. Cave naugn greets the guests at the door. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Morri son introduced them to the re ceiving line, which was compos ed of Mr. and Mrs. William L. Hussey, the bridal couple, the maid and matron of honor and the bridesmaids. Dr. and Mrs. John D. Goodbyes were said to Mrs. Williom B. Jones and Mr. and Mrs. George Bennett of Warsaw. Following the reception Major and Mrs. AQstin left on a wed ding trip to unannounced points. For travelling Mrs. Austin wore a dark brown garberdine suit with brown lizard accessories and a corsage of orchids taken from her bridal bouquet. Mrs. Austin was educated at East Carolina Teachers College, Greenville, N. C., and for the past year has held a position with the War Department. Major Austin attended Kansas State College prior to entering the Army Air Corps. During World War II fee saw service in the CBI theater. Major and Mrs. Austin will be at home after October twenty fifth at the Army Air Base, Greenville, S. C. Miss Burke Wed To Mr, McClung ^ In Impressive Home Ceremony 1 .Zxst Miss Betty Jo Burke, younger daughter of Mrs, Vida Burke and the late Sr, E. N. Burke of Cat lettsburg, became the bride of Mr, Bolyn McClung, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. N. Mc Clung of Wallace, N. C., on Fri day, September 13; 1936, at 6:00 p. m. in the home of the bride’s mother at Lockwood. The young couple was married before an improvised altar, deco rated with white gladioli and pompoms against a background of palms. Lighted tapers in five branched candelabra completed the decorations. - The impressive double ring ceremony was solemnized by the Rev. L. W. Benedict in the pres ence of members of both fami lies and a few close friends. Mrs. Mark Reed, pianist, ren dered nuptial music, playing softly during the ceremony, “Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life.” The bride was lovely in a two piece turquoise blue suit with black accessories. Her flowers were an orchid corsage. Miss Barbara Burke, maid of honor and sister of the bride, chose a gray crepe dress with black accessories and wore a shoulder corsage of pink roses. Mr. Paige Justice of Catletts burg,' served as best man. Mrs. Burke, mother of the bride, wore black crepe and her flowers were talisman roses. Mrs. Charles C. Brown and Mrs. Harry L. Bizzell, sisters of the groom, were also attired in black crepe with black accessories., Mrs. Brown wore a corsage of talisman roses and Mrs. Bizzell’s flowers were pink sweetheart roses. Following the ceremony, a small reception was held in the Burke home. The beautiful three tier wedding cake was cut in the traditional manner by the bride and groom. After the reception, the couple left for Charleston, W. Va., where Ahey spent several days, going Tfom there to the groom’s home in Wallace, N. C. They will mam their home in Deland, Fla. TMe new Mrs. McClung gradu ated with high honors from Catlettsburg High School with the class of 1944 and is a stu dent at Stetson University in De land, Fla. Mr. McClung attended schools in Wallace, N. C., anl has been a student at Stetson University since being discharged from the armed forces. Wallace Child Plays Mozarts Concerto Before Leading Critics at Meredith College Miss Mary Marguerite Teachey of Wallace was among the state’s outstanding child musicians to play at Meredith College, Satur day, September 28th. Miss Teachey played First Movement, Mozart’s Concerto in D. Minor be fore the leading musical critics of North Carolina. She was high ly jtttiged for her music apprecia tion and ability. Among the critics were Dr. Swanlin, of North Carolina University and Director of North Carolina Symphony, Dr.. Pratt and Dr. Cooper, -both music professors at Meredith College. The presi dent, Mrs. Steve Mallard, called A new project was adopted for the coming year, the members having voted to supervise a com plete Health Program in the Wallace Public Schools. A turkey dinner is being given to promote funds for this purpise. A pair of scales is to be bought and given to the school to aid in these clinics. The new members, Miss Martha Perkins, Miss Lena Chestnutt, Mrs. Frank Bland, Jr., and Mrs. John B. Zibelin were welcomed into the club. The club hymn was sung at the close of the meeting. Twenty members were present. . BIRTHDAY PARTY Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Lanier en tertained a number of young peo ple at their home Saturday eve ning, October 5, with a barbecue supper honoring their son, Wil liam Earl, 17, and their daugh ter, Hazel, 14.
