Mrs. Powers And Miss Watson Honored With “Going Away” Party On Tuesday evening, March 13 neighbors gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Sou therland on Main Street to en joy a covered dish supper honor ing Mrs. James Alderman Pow ers and Miss Martha Watson who were leaving Wallace to return to their old home in Riverton, .near Wagram. The home was thrown en suite and decorated with arrangement of spring flowers. Small tables centered with Easter baskets were placed in the living room and dining room. Upon their arrival, the honor guests were met by Mr. and Mrs. Southerland and then greeted by their other neighbors. Mrs. Pow ers and Miss Watson were pres ented lovely corsages. The dining table was covered with good things to eat and all enjoyed an evening of fellowship together. At the close of the evening Mrs. Powers and Miss Watson were given a book of remem brance with the signatures of the guests present. Wallace Woman*s Club Has Monthly Meeting The Wallace Woman’s Club met at the Community Building, Thursday evening, March 15. Mrs. D. L. Wells, Jr. president, presided oyer the business ses sion. A committee of Mesdames Alexander Southerland, Bill Hus sey, J. F. Branyon, Alvin Thom pson and Wayne Jordan was des ignated to aid in the annual Jted Cross Drive. Announcement was made that the picture," Can cer Self Examination,” had been booked for April 9th for all ad ult women. This picture is being made available to all North Car olina Clubs throughout the state. New club officers were announ ced. Mesdames R. M. Carr, presi dent and Mrs. George Finch sec ond vice president. Mrs. L. B. Birthday Dinner Friends gathered at the home of Mrs. Jimmie Johnston Tues day, March 20, at one o’clock and honored Mrs. Edward Johnson with a surprise birthday dinner. The dining table was covered with a linen cloth and centered with an arrangement of spring flowers. Covers were laid for: The hon ored guest and Mesdames A. C. Hall Jr., Charles Farrior, David Henderson, George Osborne, Jack Wells, Robert Lee Wells, Wixie Rivenbark, Obb Carr and Jimmie Johnston. Birth Announced Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bostic, of Kenansville, announce the birth of a daughter, Elna Faye, March 2 at Marion Sprunt An nex, Wilmington. Mrs. Bostic is the former Miss Elna Grey Brinson of Kenansville. Personals Misses Bobby Carter, Jane Pope and Joanne Jackson, stud ents at Peace College, Raleigh ar rived home Wednesday to spend the holidays here with their fam ilies. Miss. Frances Jones, student at Converse College, Spartanburg S. C. is spending the spring holi days here with hfer mother Mrs. Margaret Hall Jones. Pvt. Harry Johnson, stationed at Camp Pickett, Va., spent the week end at home with his par ents Mr. and Mrs. R. P. Johnson. Miss Mary Currie is spending this week in Hamlet visiting Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lackey. Miss Mary Ann Carter, stud ent at Carolina, Chapel Hill, re turned Monday after spending the week end with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Roy Carter. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kramer and childen spent Sunday in Whiteville visiitng relatives. Gabrial Boney, freshman at Carolina, Chapel Hill spent the weekend with his parents Mr. and Mrs. Gabrial Boney. Among those from Wallace at tending the basketball games at State College coliseum Tuesday evening were Dr. Charles Dear ing, Mr. Harry Kramer, Mr. Llo yd McGowan, Mr. Thell Over man, Mr. Evans Boney, Mr. Hen ry F. Rivenbark, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Cavenaugh, and Mr. and Mrs. D. D. Blanchard and Decatur Blanchard. Mrs. Barnes Bullard and child ren have returned to Whiteville after visiting her mother Mrs. Alma Boney, who has been ill at her home. Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Branyon and son, John returned home Wednesday from Due West, S. C. where they visited at the home of Mr. Branyon. While in S. C. Mr. and Mrs. Branyon went on to Atlanta, Ga., where they attend ed a three day meeting of Green’s Fuel Gas and a South Eastern District meeting of the National E. P. Gas Association held in the Atlanta Biltmore Hotel. Dobson Chanel The Rev. N. E. Gresham will fill his regular apppintment here Sunday night. Mr. Johnny Wagnor of Ral eigh was a week end visitor in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Bostic. Messrs Hamp Dail, T. N. Sand lin and Hez Dobson made, a bus iness trip to Wallace Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Hez Dobson and Mrs. B. W. Carter were shoppers in Warsaw Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Murphy Dobson and children, Charlie and Nettie were supper guest of Mrs. Vick Simmons Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. Paisley Rouse were shoppers In Wallace Wed nesday. Mr. and Mrs. Bil Dawson and children, Ann and Donald visited friends at Cedar Fork Sunday. Mrs. L. H. Rouse, Miss Polly Rouse and Mr. Ward Rouse were in Kinston shopping Thursday. Miss Susie Sandlin and Sandra Worthy spent several days last week in Wallace visiting Mrs. Laurice Worthy and Mrs. J. T.
