The bride's father performed the ceremony. A program of wedding music was rendered by Mrs. N. R. Webb, church organist and Mrs. AV-a Moore Miller of Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina sang "One Alone" and "f Love You Trulv." Mrs. Mil ler also sang ' The Lord's Prayer" at the close of the jwomony. The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Lester A. Tilley. Jr., wore a gown of ivory slipper satin fashioned with a high rounded neckline, lace voke out lined with a soft bertha, fitted bodice, long shirred sleeves, ending in points over the hands, and full skirt extending into a sweeping train. Her full length veil of bridal illusion fell from a tira of orange blossoms and seed pearls. She car ried a prayer book topped with white purple-throated orchids aid cascaded with sprays of tube roses and stephanotis. Miss Ruth Kendall of Alber- marie, a room-mate of the bride for three years at Duke University, was maid of honor. She wore a gown of white marquisette fashion ed with a rounded neckline, out lined with a bertha which formed a cap sleeve, fitted bodice and full hoop skirt. She wore long-sheer gloves and carried an arm bouquet of AmcricanBcauty roses w ith wide satin streamers. Her headdress was of American Beauty roses and ribbon. Brides maids were Miss Eliza beth Ann Des Jardines of Detroit. Michigan and Duke University and Miss Hester Ann Bizzell of New ton Grove and The Woman's Col lege of The University of North Carolina, Greensboro. Their dress es were identically as that of the maid of honor. They also wore long sheer gloves and carried arm bouquets of American beauty roses with wide satin ribbon streamers. MHMMHM VJe Won't Vows Spoken Their headdresses were also of American beauty roses and ribbon. Honorary brides maidi were Misses Eleanor Ann White, Rom Clvde Brvant. Marvanne Broun, Helen Knight and Gladys Lee, alt of Roanoke Rapids. Their gowns were of pastel and they wore fcttr s.iffeS bf roses. John Spillmah of Charlotte arid Duke University attended as best man. The ushers were Mr. Dixon Adams, Of Carthage, Mr. Thomas Horner, of New Bern, Mr. Harold Austin, of High Point; Divinity students at Duke University and Kenneth Tilley, of Morehead City, brother bf the bride. Mrs. Tilley, the bride's mother, wore a gown of blue French crepe. Her corsage was Of mixed flowers. Mrs. Sampley, mother of the bridegroom, wore a white gown. TIpr mi-sape was of red fOseS. Following the wedding the bride's parents entertained at a re ception at the Methodist Parson age, 712 Bridges Street. Mr. and Mrs. George R. Wallace greeted the guests. Dr. and Mrs. Dsrdert J. Eure introduced the guests to the receiving line, which was com posed of the parents of the bride and bridegroom, the bridal couple and attendants. Judge and Mrs. Luther Hamilton invited the guests into the dining room. The table was centered with magnolia leaves and white flowers flanked with candelabra at each end. Mrs. M. T. Mills and Mrs. W. L. Derrickson and Mrs. H. W. Thornton served punch. Others receivirg In the dining room were the honorary brides-maids. Mrs. Edwin Akers and Mrs. Agatha Moore Miller of Roanoke Rapids received in the gift room. Miss Dora Mae Staton and Miss Irene Spente presided over the bride's bodk. Goodbyes were said to Mr. and Mrs. Ethan Davis. Fallowing the reception Mr. and Mrs. Sampley left on their wedding trip. For travelling Mrs. Sampley wore a dressmaker suit of white gaberdine with green accessories. Her corsage was the white purple throated orchid taken from her prayer book. Rev. Lester A. filley officiated using the double ring ceremony. Prior to the ceremony, Mrs. Nor mal Webo, brgainist, rendered a prbgrttnt of nuptial music, Mrs. Jo- siah Bailey, soloist, sang "I Love You Truly", and The Lord's Pray er." ' Traditional marches Were played for the processional and re cessional. A woodland background for the Mremony was formed with banks of pine, southern smila and pal mettos. Six baskets df white gla dioli were interspersed among the greenery While glowing tapers in seven and Mine branch candelabra threw a soft light throughout the church. White candles were ar ranged alont the altar rail which Was covered In greenery over a Whit background. Tapers and white ribbons were used as pew markers. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of egg shell slipper satin fashioned with I round yoke of illusion outlined In chahtlllv lace. Her fitted long bodice ended in a point below the Waistline and was fastened in the back with satin buttons. The long fitted sleeves ended in calla points over the wrists and were also fast ened with satin buttons. Her long flowing skirt ended in a circular traih. She wore a veil of illusion with a tiara of chantilly lace cen tered with satin rosebuds and car ried a bouquet of white bride's roses ana tube rOseS centered with i pUrple orchid. The bouquet was fastened with white satin ribbon. Miss Jackie Wallace, of Charles University and will be at home in Durham after August 25. Miss Tilley was shown many couurtesies in Roanoke Rapids and Morehead City 'prior to her wed ding among which was a luncheon given by fheArih Street Methodist Chuurch of Beaufort for members of the wedding party and out-of-town guests. Miss Daisy Ray Brock, sister of the bride, junior bridesmaid, was dressed identical to the maid of honor. Miss Viola Styron, Miss Barbara Grantham and Mrs. Roma Styron, sister of the bridegroom, were bridesmaids. Their gowns were made like those of the maid of honor in orchid. Their bouquets and hair dos were made similar but were of yellow roses and or chid net. The bridegroom chose his father as his best man while ushers were D. B. Willis and Darcy Willis, Jr., brothers of the bridegroom, and Charles Freeman. The bride's mother wore a dress of gray crepe with black acces sories and a shoulder corsage of red roses. Mrs. Willis, mother of the bride groom wore navy blue with black accessories and a corsage of red roses. Mrs. Willis is a graduate of the Morehead City High School and completed the commercial course in the local school. At present she is employed by the Morehead City Chamber of Commerce. Immediately after the ceremony the couple left for a wedding trip to Florida. For traveling the bride changed to a summer suit of White shark skin with gold accessories and wore the orchid from her wed ding bouquet. Upon their returrt, the couple will reside at an apartment at the home of Mrs. Charles Tolson on 1800 Arendell Street. Out-of-town guests here for the wedding were Mrs. Louise Wallace, Miss Frances Wallace, Mr. Earl "Curly" Wallace, Mr. M. L. Butter worth, Jr. and Mr. D. M. William son, Jr.. of Charleston, S. C, Darcy Willis, Jr., of Newport News, Va., and Mr. and Mrs, Matt Allen, of Kinston. Silver Wedding Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. O. G. Sterlen cele brated their 25th wedding hnniver sary on August 11.
