V. M. Kersey Wins $225 '
For Original Suggestion -
During the latter part of 1846
V. M. Kersey, Quarterman AMG,
Overhaul and Repair Department
submitted a beneficial suggestion1
relative to a universal alignment
jig for small control surfaces. This
suggestion makes more efficient
the operation of repairing struc-.
tural members of aircraft. Prior
to adoption of this suggestion it
was necessary to have an individ
ual jig for each type of structure
to be repaired.
A great amount of work by the
Engineers, and others, was requir-
, ed to develop the idea. Their time
j was well spent, for use of the sug
i gestion proved a saving of ovrr
Sf5.O00.00 per year for the Overhaul
i and Repair Department.
I Mr. Kersey was awarded $225
for originating the idea and in
forming management of it.
Recently the Navy Department
informed the station that all other
j naval activities have been inform
! ed of Mr. Kersey's idea and the
details of the jig developed here.
