Apply Broadway Cafe, Morehead City.N5 Plumbers Revise ik Laws At a meeting of Morehead City plumbers in the mayor's office Thursday night the town's present plumbing code was slightly revis ed and a request drafted to ask Morehead City commissioners to approve the revision. E. Slamey Davis, plumbing in spector for the town, and A. D. Fulford, county sanitarian, were present. The meeting was called and conducted by Mayor G. W Dill, Jr.. "Some residents were flagrantly violating the plumbing code," de clared the mayor yesterday, "and this meeting was aimed toward better enforcement and bringing about better coordination between the plumbers and the inspector." He reminded plumbers at the meeting that compliance with the rode was most beneficial to them, and in the bargain, safeguarded public health. Leslie Davis of Beau fort Vrving as moderator for the 34th consecutive year. It was the list meeting of the association which he has attended without a break. Dr. John H. Bunn, pastor of the Morehead City First Baptist church, served as clerk. There are 30 churches in the At lantic association including those in Craven, Jones, Pamlico and nearly all of Onslow county. The association is made up of thirty churches from east Carolina counties. Officers are M. Leslie Davis, moderator; Rev. Alabert S. Lamm, vice-moderator; and Dr. John H. Bunn, clerk-treasurer. OBITUARIES Gay Foster Jones Funeral services for Guy Foster Jones, 57, of Swansboro, were held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Swansboro Methodist church. Mr. Jones. was found, death due to a heart attack early Friday afternoon on board a U. S. engineer boat in Wilmington on which he was engi neer. Ministers conducting tho last riles were Rev. W. L. ' . Called an Ml carrier, it enables telephone engineers to aJd three new circuits without stringing any more wires. . The bos at Turner and Ann is the receiving-transmission end of the Beaufort-Hark-ers Island circuits. There will be no change in num bers or dial procedure in Harkers Island, according to engineers Jen nings Teal and Buck Price, who in stalled the carrier. Stated in technical lingo, the Ml carrier telephone .system is a double side band amplitude-modulated system developed to provide telephone service over existing rural lines at the same time that these lines are used for the trans mission of voice frequency tele phone service. Australia Plans Radio Board SYDNEY " (AP) The Aus tralian Government plans to set up a board of three to control broad casting. Announcing the proposal in Parliament, Prime Minister Jo seph B. Chifley said there was no suggestion of socializing the air. At present broadcasting comes under the control of the Post Of fice. owned and operated delivered more than 33 billion gallons of gasoline and did a total volume of iinsiness of more than $5 billion. He added: "This business was one in the course of servicing more than 37 million highway vehicles, the greatest number to travel our roads in all history." On a basis of averages, he corf tinued, each service station today supplies 150 highway vehicles with an average of 800 gallons yearly. From a retail viewpoint, service station operators last year took in about four cents out of every dol lar that was spent in our nation's retail stores. Reporters, Dolores Willis Frances Fulcher Three Minor Fires Occur In Morehead City Friday, Saturday and Sunday saw a fire each day in Morehead City, with only minor damage re sulting from the three conflagra tions. At 12:10 Friday the firemen put out a grass fire on Arendell be tween 31st and 32nd sts. A roof fire was extinguished at the home of Fred Fulford, 608 Fisher st., at 12:45 Saturday, with minor dam ages. Sunday at 9:10 a.m. a floor furnace flooded at 2105 Fisher, re sulting in a blaze which caused slight smoke damage.
