Rhodis Bell Sings in Quartet Winning First Prize in Tokyo Contest HEADQUARTERS, FAR EAST AIR FORCES, TOKYO, Japan The baritone voice of Trivate First Class Ithodis Bell, son of Mrs. Cordelia Bell, 304 Pollock street, Beaufort, was one of four touch ing a responsive chord in the Jud ges of a "barbershop quartet" con test held in Tokyo recently. Bell's quartet, "The Jubilecrs" from the Thirteenth Air Force on Okinawa, won second prize in a command wide contest. The award was a week in Tokyo, capital city of Japan, and a gold plaque. Johnson, with the other mem bers of the Jubileers spent their week sight seeing and resting be fore returning to their southern island of Okinawa. The airmen were billeted at the Mciji Hotel In Meiji Park, a structure originally constructed by the Japanese at a ime when it was planned to hold the Olympic Games in Japan. The lotel now serves Occupation needs Another highlight of their stay here was the Public Information Office at Far East Air Forces head quarters, where the Jubileers made a recording for a radio show of their prize-winning numbers, "Me mories," and "Old MacDonald Had A Farm."
