Warren, Raleigh Grand Master of Odd Fellows of the State of North Carolina, and Mrs. Josephine Thomas of Raleigh, President of the Rebekah Assem bly of North Carolina, were special guests at the regular meeting of Miriam Rebekah Lodge No. 141 on Monday evening. The local Lodge put the Degree on six candidates for Miriam and fifteen candidates for the Have lock Lodge which was instituted at the time by the Grand Master, President, and their staff composed of Mr. J. H. Caudill, Grand Secre tary of the Grand Lodge of North Carolina, Mrs. Lois Albright, Vice President of the North Carolina Rebekah Assembly, Miss Elsie Burke, Assembly Secretary, and Mrs. Viola Jones, Past President of the Assembly. Other guests for the meeting were Mrs. Eloise Wood, of Wil mington, President of the second district, and Mrs. Bertha Skipper of Wilmington. After institution of the Havelock Lodge, a joint meeting of the Re bekahs and Odd Fellows was held at which time the Grand Master was the speaker. Belva Sue Skarren Has Birthday Parly Recently Little Belva Sue Skarren, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. M P. Skarren, celebrated her sixth birthday with a partv at the Baptist Sunday School hut recently. Twenty five young friends were present and enjoyed ice cream and cake in the valentine mofit. Belva Sue received many lovely and useful gifts from her friends. Eastern Star Will Hold Benefit Dinner Eastern Star Beaufort Chapter 128 will hold a benefit dinner next Monday evening, Feb. 21., at the Masonic Temple on Turner St. Chairmen in charge of the din ner are Mrs. C. G. Holland, Mrs. Harvey Smith and Miss Ethel Whitehurst. Tickets for the dinner, which will consist of baked ham, Boston baked beans, slaw, hot biscuits, pie and coffee will cost $1. and may be bought from any member of the organization. Bridge Club Meets At Home of Mrs. Parker Mrs. Dick Parker entertained her bridge club last Thursday af ternoon at her home on Front street. Special guest for the afternoon was Mrs. Gilbert Potter, and high score was won by Mrs. T. H. Mc Quaid. Mrs. Gray Hassell Entertains Club Mrs. Gray Hassell entertained three tables of bridge Friday eve ning when she Was hostess to the Friday night bridge club. Special guests for the evening were Mr Jarvis Hferring, Mrs. Charles Cheek and Mrs. Ray Hat sell. High score prize for the bridge club went to Mrs? Humm of Beau fort were guest speakers Friday evening when the Piedmont Bird dub met at Inlet Inn. Dr, Royal spoke rbout a sea gull that h:'d been raised in cap tivity and the only one bred south of Long Island. The bird, which was owned by Capt. John E. Lewis, died in 1935, when it was 49 years old. OBITUARIES Mrs. Walton Millican Mrs. Walton Millican, mother of Vtrs. Grace Fodrie, died suddenly Friday at her home in Lethonia, Ga. Funeral services were held Sun day at 2 o'clock from the home. Clarence Grady Clarence Grady died Saturday night at his home near Newport. Funeral services were conducted at the Murphey cemetery near Richlands on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
