TOO Fisher It., left Morehead City recently (or the Waeo Army Air Corps Officer Training school at Waco, Texas. John Nelson, Sonny Geer and Mrs. Jesse Godley of Washington, N. C. spent last week in Morehead City. Mr and Mrs. John Smith, 204 N. Sixth St., were visited recently by their son, John Smith, Jr., and their grandson, Leroy Smith, of Long Island. The Long Island visitors spent three weeks in Morehead City visiting Mr. and Mrs. Smith at their camp on Bogue Sound. Mrs. W. R. Ross of Washington, D. C., who was injured while vac ationing here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, is re ported improving rapidly at More head City hospital. Mrs. Smith is in hopes that her daughter can be removed to the Smith home in the near future. Mrs. Harvey Hamilton, of 3201 Sunset dr., is in Nashville where she was called due to the serious ilness of her father, Mr. F. R. Cooper. Mrs. Luther Hamilton and her grandson, Larry Vickers left Mon day to visit Larry's paternal grandmother Mrs. Vickers, is the western part of the state. Judge Luther Hamilton is leav ing for Chapel Hill today where he will pick up his son and daugh ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Hamilton, Jr., and bring them to Morehead City. Luther Jr., is at tending Ian school at Chapel Hill. Mr. ana Mrs. W. L. Dcrrickson and their daughter, Nancy, accom panied by Miss Lucille Pinner, all of Beaufort, traveled to Norfolk Tuesday to attend the wedding of Miss Patricia Mallison to Kenneth Tille;, which is scheduled for to day. Mrs. George Styron, Mrs. Ver non Guthrie and Mrs. Fank Reims left Morehead City Wednesday to attend the dedication and house warming of the newly completed Masonic and Eastern Star hospital in Greensboro. The trio experts to visit in Chapel Hill enroute to Greensboro. Mrs. Rosalie Dowdy, daughter in-law of Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Dow dy, 106 6th St., and Miss Loretta Tatro, of Detroit, are leaving to day to return to Ann Arbor. Mich, where they are attending summer school. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Willis and their daughter, Connie, of 3302 Evan* ft., left Monday for the Blue Ridge mountains where they plan to remain a week. Dr. D. Frank Hall, of Wilming ton, former pastor of the Webb Memorial Presbyterian church, is visiting at the George McNeill home Mrs. Hall is a patient at Morehead City hospital following the extraction of an imfvUd wis dom tooth. Mrs. J. Dewey Willis, Jerry Wil lis. Boby Willis, and Donald Mil ler left yesterday for a 10-day trip to Cameron, La. Capt. and Mrs. Albert Blood good, 1413 Arendell St., were call ed to Swansboro Friday due to the fatal illness of Capt. Bloodgood's sister, Mrs. Lucy Buckmaster. Other relatives attending from Morehead City were Mrs. Joe Bloodgood and Miss June Blood good. Mrs. Duffy Wade, 512 Bridges Roberts and son Billy, left rccent st., and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. ly for a two week trip through the New England States. While traveling the Wades plan to visit relatives in Massachusetts and New York. Mrs. Clyde Willis, 3212 Aren dell, had as her guest recently Mrs. W. H. Warren of Norfolk, Va. Mrs. Warren stopped in More head City for several days enroute from Ocracoke, to her home. Mrs. Linwood Brinson and her children. Julia and Tommy, of 104 South 10th st. moved from More head City Wednesday to Edenton where Mr. Brinson is employed as fire chief of the Marine Air Base. Mrs. Julius Nelson Gives Bridge Party Tuesday Night Mrs. Julius Nelson, Sr., enter tained her bridge club Tuesday evening at her home on the More head-New Bern highway. Guests for the evening includ ed Mrs. Clyde Young, Mrs. Helen Whitley, and Mrs. John Read. Prizes went to Mrs. Joe Smith, high score; Mrs. Percy Deyo, sec ond prize and Mrs. Young, guest prize. Mrs. Smith received a set of pillow cases, Mrs. Deyo a ring holder and Mrs. Young was award ed a box of stationery. Refreshments were served by the hostess preceding and during the game. Thursday Bridge Club Meets With Mrs. Rivers Mrs. Howard River was hostess Thursday evening, when she enter tained her bridge club at her home on Arendell Street. Williston WSCS Makes $500 On Saturday Clambake The Woman's Society of Chris tian Service, sponsors of the Sat urday night clambake at Willis Brothers clamhouse, Williston, an nounced that they made $500 at the affair. In addition to the large number of tickets sold, several contribu tions were made to the church building fund. The purpose of the clambake was to raise money to continue the building program. Claud R. Wheatly, Beaufort served as master of ceremonies. The cost of stripping and re striping 100,000 miles of highway each ye*r is estimated at $2,800, 000 or $28 a mile. Morehead City Children Show Interest In Reading Morehead City children are still j showing intense interest in the Reading Club sponsored by the library at the Webb Memorial cen ter, Mrs. E. A. Council, librarian, reported today. Children are given apecified points for reading certain books and at the end of the club's con test a winner will be selected, based on the child's accumulation of points. C. 1 State college, during the insti tute's second commencement Fri day night, Aug. 19. Parker receivde a certificate from State college for completing I the one-year technical course of- 1 fered by the institute. The in stitute is conducted by the Col lege's Extension division in co operation with th School of En gineering at State college.
