More head City Topples Marshallber, Newport, Midway Divide Weekend Tidewater Tilts Newport and Midway Park split their pair of Tidewater League games over the weekend, Midway Park winning at home Saturday, 101, and Newport returning the favor Sunday at Newport, 8-0. Saturday was Sandy DeJohn Day at Midway Park. DeJohn, Ma line captain, who held down first sack for Midway, played his last game. Saturday and celebrated the parting with three hits for five trips to the plate, one of them a triple Pappy Diem went the distance for Midway Park, scattering six hits a mon:; the Newport batting order. These giant sea turtles are moving in from the warm waters of the Gulf Stream offshore to deposit their eggs in the warm suids of the beaches. It is not considered unusual to find a nest filled with their eggs aloag the beaches of Bogue and other nearby banks islands. Occasionally at this season com-| mcrcial fishermen catch the giant j turtles in nets as they are ap p roach mg the beach. The flesh of loggerhead turtle has no commer cial value except locally, but many natives consider the meat a deli cacy. Tom Benton, Morehead's hard hitting first baseman had an after noon of it with four hits for five tries to chalk up an average of 800 for the afternoon.
