Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Bell, will drive her to Winston Salem and continue on for a trip through the mountains before re turning home. Mrs. M. S. Snowden left yester day morning for Virginia Beach where she will visit Lt. and Mrs. Macon Snowden and young Ernest Snowden. Mrs. William A. Mace has re turned home after a week's visit at Bogue Sound with Mrs. William B. Wadsworth. Mrs. A. W. Daniels of Charlotte arrived Sunday for a visit at her cottage. Miss Mattie Duncan was called to Wilson last Thursday by the fa tal illness of her aunt, Mrs. Lillie Whitehurst. Lt. and Mrs. F. H. Pogue and daughter, Carol, of Springfield. O., have taken an apartment in Mrs. Snowden's house. Lt. and Mrs. Pugue were stationed here during Uie last war. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Tillett were ih Wilson Sunday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Tillett's aunt. Mrs. Lillie Whitehurst. Mrs. Don Martin, who was re ceiving treatment in the Rocky Mount hospital, is now recuperating at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Gus Lancaster of Rocky Mount. Miss Tat Webb will leave today for Duke where she will enter the junior class. Charles Pitts left last Wednesday for Duke where he entered the freshman class. Mrs. C. O. Pitts of Cluantanamo Ray, Cuba, and Mrs. Howard Jones drove him up to Dur ham. returning to Reaufort Thurs day. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Register of Ilnrtsville, S. C., spent Sunday here. Mr, and Mrs. Arthur Bradshaw of New Bern have moved into their apartment on Front st. Mrs. Newton, who formerly lived on Orange st. and now a resident of near New Bern, spent Sunday here. Mrs. R. C. Way will return to morrow from Wallace where she has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Glenn. Mr. and Mrs. Bernice Jones left Sunday for Raleigh where Mr. Jones will continue his studies at Staty college. Mrs. Sam Chadwick and son, Tommy, spent the weekend in Ral eigh visiting relatives. Miss Betty Mauldin will return to Charlotte today after a week's visit with Miss Sarah Mason. The Junior Woman's club will hold its membership tea at the American Legion hut on Turner st. on Thursday evening. Sept. 28, instead of on Sept. 27 as originally planned. Mrs. Wallace Gaskill and children of Atlantic will arrive tomorrow for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Mason. Mrs. C. P. Tyler has moved from her apartment on Front st. to an apartment in Mrs. Addie Skarren's house on Moore st. Mr. Lindsey Hill will leave to day for Chapel Hill to enter the senior class at the university. Mrs. Vera Stubbs is improving after having received treatment in Richmond for the past three weeks. Mrs. Ernest Davis was taken to Duke hospital in Durham on Thurs day for treatment. Mrs. Earl Taylor spent Friday in New Bern. Lt Robert Hill, who has been living at Virginia Beach, Va., will spend a few hours here tomorrow with his parents en route to Jack sonville, Fla., where he will be sta tioned. Mrs. Hill and their baby who are visiting her parents, in At lanta, Ga., will join him on his | trip south and go on to their newj base. Commander and Mrs. Moore Celebrate Silver Wedding Lieut. Commander and Mrs. Tyre Moore entertained at their home on River Shore drive, Swansboro, at a reception Saturday evening. Sept. 9. from 8:30 to 11, to cele brate their silver wedding anniver sary. The home was decorated throughout with white flowers and white tapers in silver holders, car rying out the color scheme of white and green. | Guests were greeted at the door by Mrs. F. B. Pittman. Commander and Mrs. Moore were assisted in receiving the guests by Mrs. D. N. Farnell and Miss Vallie Farnell of Suffolk. jVa.; and Mrs. R. L. Smith, Mrs. E. E. Canadv and Mr. and Mrs. F. M. iBell. Mrs. R. H. Merrill presided at the punch bowl and Mrs. Harry Hamilton at the guest book. Mrs. T. H. Conder received in the gift room. The dining room table was cover ed with a lace cloth and centered I with a three-tiered wedding cake topped by a miniature bride and groom, which was flanked on eith er side by lighted tapers in silver branch candelabra. Commander and Mrs. Moore cut the cake with his service sword which they had used in cutting their wedding cake 25 years ago. Mrs. Walter Sabiston of Jack sonville served the cake. Assisting in serving cake, ice cream in moulds, mints and mixed nuts were the Misses Rosemary C'anady, Anne Conder, Mrs. Emorie Mathias and Mrs. Henry Tolson. More than 100 guests called dur ing the evening. STORK NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Roy W. Wisp of Sea Level welcomed a son, Howard Stephen, Wednesday, Sept. 13, in the Morehead City hospital. Mrs. Albert Sykes of Morehead City was discharged Friday. Mrs. Robert Williams of North Harlowe was discharged Wednes day following treatment. Obituary MRS. I.II.I.IAN M. W'HITEHl'RST Wilson ? Mrs. Lillian Martin Whitehurst, 82, widow of W. W. Whitehurst. died Saturday morning at 6:45 o'clock at the home of her daughter. Mrs. J. D. Hobbitt. Born in Beaufort, Mrs. White hAt was the daughter of the late Dr. L. W. Martin and Sarah King Martin. She and Mr. VVhitehurst came to Wilson in 1905 and had resided here since that date. She was an active member of the First Methodist church here. Funeral services were held Sun day afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Bobbitt home. Her pastor, the Rev. Robert W. Bradshaw, conducted the services. Burial was in Maple wood cemetery. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Bobbitt are another daughter, Mrs. B. W. Alston; one son, Warren M. Whitehurst; one granddaughter, Blain Lillian Alston; three grand son* and several nieces and ne phews. Mr. and Mrs. Neal Campen at tended the homecoming at the Methodist church in Swan Quar er Sunday.
