This the 19th day of April, 1951. A. H. JAMES, Clerk of the Superior Court \i a 20-27 m 4-11 Judge (Continued from page 1) to support the children. No costs were levied by the court. Charged with cohabiting, Ger trude Reel received a suspended two-year prison sentence on the condition that she submit to ster ilization. No costs were levied. .For speeding, Lester Lee Jones was taxed $10 and costs, while one half costs were levied on Jethro Craven for driving without a li cense. Charges Dismissed Upon hearing evidence, the court dismissed cohabiting charges against Dorothy Hester and James Johnson, and decided to drop the case against Donald A. Hulihan, charged with selling whiskey at a Shackleford st. bar. The court al so decided not to prosecute at this time the case of Tommie Lee Vin son. charged with non-support of his three minor children. The attorney aays of the other G. W. Ball: "I get all his bills and he gets all my checks!" The William Willises are out of luck too. There's a William Willis in Morehead City, a William Willis who lives at 114 Gordon St., Beau fort and a William Willis who lives at 1018 Ann at., Beaufort. The fact that there's the nick-name, Bill, doesn't help a bit. Using )ust the first initial J. j and the second initial, M? with the last name Lewis, will cause trouble. ' There are two J. M. Lewises in the I county, three of these have John as their given name. Incidentally, John Lashley, Morehead City's clerk, says that he knows of nine John Lashieys. All of them, thank goodness, are not living in Carteret county. Beaufort not only has three William Congletons, one living at 325 Orange St., William Earl at 111 Broad, and William Edward, but there are three William Garners to boot. There's Willie,' William Car lton who's a policeman, and Will iam H., his father. Moreneaa city tears its nair over the John Willises: John B. 2312 Fisher st., John Bell Willis, 24th and Fisher, " John D7, 1509 Arendell, John H., 2002 Aredell> John Jonnie, who also lives on Ar endell, and John T., 1704 Arendell. Beaufort has to keep only four John Willises straight: John T., 910 Ann st., who is known as Sid, John W. Willis (Captain Jack) at 506 Turner st., Johnnie Willis, 1000 1/2 Broad, and John Web ster Willis Front street extended. There used to be four George Willises in Morehead City, but since the death of George H., there only three at each other's throats: George A., George O., and George V. The Charles Willises are in the running too. There's Charles M. who works at Leary's Men's store in Morehead City, Charles Webb Willis, and Charles Wesley Willis. Using just C. W. Willis in the case of the latter two would help the postal clerks not a bit. In Beaufort there's Wiley Taylor, jr., and Wiley Taylor, sr., and West Taylor. Anyone referring to W. H. Taylor, could mean any one of three persons because their mid dle initial is the same. The James Davis's In Beaufort number two. James H. Davis holds forth at the First Citizens Bank and*Trust co., while James Davis also lives on Turner st., is a former sheriff. The only way the James Potters can keep things straight i? by designating the coun ty auditor as James Davis Potter and James Potter the younger is kept clear of James Potter the el der by a III after young James' name. Morehead City claims two James Balls, one at 807 Evans St., the other at 1408 Fisher St., two Rob ert Taylors and two George Lew ises. limns back across Newport riv er again, there are two Charles W. Robinsons in the Beaufort area, one who lives on Lcnnoxville road and the other at 206 Gordon St., and just for good measure there are two George Robinsons and two Charles Hills in town too. The William Lewis on Front street extended is WilliaA) E. and the one who lives in Highland Park is William T. There's no way to end such a scramble, unless parents turn over a new leaf and become more orig inal in selecting names for their offspring. Meanwhile, pity the poor newspaper reporter, the pos tal clerks, and anyone else who in seeking one person, usually ends up with doubles, triples and quad ruples. A name like Hortense Hottentot would be welcome. NLHB Conducts Hiving On Shirt Factory Employee Whether a Morehead City Gar ment co. employee was discharged discriminatorily in November for labor union activities and for tes tifying against the company in a labor hearing last July, is the sub ject of a National Labor Relations board hearing today in the court house. The employee about whom the hearing revolves is Mrs. Amanda Toler of Fulford st., Beaufort, who was a member of the local organ izing committee which directed the abortive unionization of the gar ment company a year ago. Tlie hearing started yesterday afternoon with J. K. Pickens of Winston-Salem, counsel for. the NLRB. and Whiteford Blakeney of Charlotte, counsel for the garment company. Search Warrant Officer Newsome told the court they went to the house with a search warrant, that the police had been watching the house for two weeks and that they "saw people going and coming." Under examination by Claud Wheatly, attorney for the defend ants, the officer stated that be saw two men go into the house, that he had not been in the house be fore March 31, that he saw John son sitting in the house at one time, that he had never seen the woman before and that the room in which the two were discovered was a combined living room and bedroom. Officer Newsome also told the lawyer that the woman returned from where she had run and spoke to the officers while still wearing her slip. "What did it look like?" asked Wheatly. "Well, it was just a slip," re marked the policeman. "Was it brown or black or what?^ persisted the lawyer. "I guess it was brown or black," replied the officer, "it wasr.'t pink." I omplalnts Received Officer Fulcher testified that an investigation of the house was made upon information received from various sources. He stated that when the officers entered, a bed was shoved against the door to the room where the defendants were. He further testified that no one else was in the apartment at the time, and that there was also an upstairs apartment to the house. It was stated that the house was rented by Beatrice Monroe to one of the two defendants. Officer Fulcher testified that he had seen men going in and out of the house a* different times, but under cross-examination stated that he didn't know why they were go ing to the house. . Over objection voiced by the de fense attorney, Officer Fulcher re lied in answer to a question by M. Leslie Davis, solicitor, that the "reputation of the house was bad." The witness said that the chief of police instructed them to keep close watch on the house and that letters had been received by police from people in the neighbor hood complaining about the place. Letters were also received to that effect by Constable Charles Krouse, the policeman testified. He further stated that on the basis of information that there were illegal whiskey dealings at the house, the search warrant had been sworn out. The officers found no bootleg whiskey, however, he re ported. The defense lawyer moved for non-suit on both charges after the testimony was presented. He sta ted that on the basis of previous supreme court rulings, the two defendants could not be convicted. (Continued from page 1) and some day making it into a park. The town attorney was directed to investigate the matter and Beck was thanked for his suggestion. It was suggested that a barri cade be built on the grass plot at 24th and Arendell St., to prevent cars from cutting across the grass when making the turn on to Aren dell street opposite the Webb Me morial Presbyterian church. The board passed a resolution requesting the East Carolina Re gional Housing authority to build the proposed housing projects in Morehead City as soon as possible, because of the pressing need for living quarters in this area. The board approved renting the rent control official an office in the municipal building at $50 per month.
