There are usually 18 babies liv ing at the nursery and cared for day and night by one full-time trained nurse, one half-time train ed nurse, two practical nurses and two aides. In addition to the babies cared for in the nursery and placed in adoptive homes, the Soceity also does counseling work with the par ents. One-tenth of the babies do not go to adoptive homes. The parents are given counseling service and work with the Society's competent staff to make other arrangements. The Society also keeps compre hensive records on the babies and their backgrounds and carefully match babies and adoptive parents to assure the best possible home life for both. All these activities take money and only citizens of North Caro lina can supply this money. Fol low-up letters were sent out this week to remind North Carolinians that more than 318 babies are look ing to them for their health and happiness in 1952, Miss Tynes said. Donations may be mailed to the Society's office at 740 Chestnut St., Greensboro. t (Continued from Page 1, Sec. 2) toward a atable of editorial writ era .. . As of now, it looks aa if Gurney P. Hood, former N. C. Banking Commiasioner, will have no serious opposition when he appears before the Stale Banking Commission . . . None of the banks here like more competition, of course, but do not plan to oppose Hood . . . One of our friends was in New York City the other day. While there, he had contact with one of the Wall Street businessmen. Re port from ^>is New Yorker is that politicians and business leaders there are against Taft, have never forgiven him for not doing more for Dewey in 1948 . . . and feel that Eisenhower is the MUST for the Republicans next year. Watch out for Candlemas Day, or if you prefer, groundhog day. That comes on February 2 . . . and Urn stead supporters are look ing to that date for the unofficial end to candidate speculation.
