Gilmour, the for mer Carol Lasker, has joined her husband, Sergeant Gilmour USMC, in Honolulu. Mrs. Gilmour, with her two and a half-week old son, Mark Darrell, flew to Honolulu March 2?. The Gilmours formerly lived in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Taylor have returned from a visit in Louisiana, Atlanta, Ga., and Roland, N. C. Lee Parker, Washington, D. C., spent the Easter holidays here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Parker. The Misses Harriet Dickinson, Barbara Yeacley and Ruth Nagler of Jackson, Michigan, teachers at Jackson high school, left yesterday after spending their spring vaca tion visiting Mrs. Rosalie Dowdy. Monday Mrs. Dowdy and her guests visited the Orton and Airlie gar dens at Wilmington. Matthew Percy Marshall, jr., went to Raleigh today for his pre induction examination for the arm ed service. Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Jackie Taylor is vice-president, de feating floe Dixon; Annette Guth rie, secretary and treasurer, won over Bernice Willis; Ccrrine Webb is junior representative, James B. Willis, sophomore and Helen Carl ton, freshman. The annual spring concert of the high school band will be presented Tuesday night at 8 o'clock in the auditprium. Featured will be waltzes, marches, the Clarion Quar tet, Ave Maria, Joshua, sax solos, and the popular Three O'clock in the Morning. Mr. Ralph Wade, director, told me yesterday that he has had sev eral requests for Bill Merrill to re peat the drum solo that was such a great hit in the winter concert. Mrs. Phyllis Squires of Philadel phia, Pa., arrived Monday to visit her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Chalk. Mrs. Skinner Chalk, jr., and Mrs. J. W. Kellogg went to Wilmington today to bring Mrs. Chalk's chil dren home. Kathy received treat ment and Skinner underwent a ton sillectomy at Sidbury's hospital. Tommy Bennett spent last week end in Raleigh. Garden and Civic Club Hears Talk by Chemist Robert Stasser of a chemical company at Richmond, Va., was guest speaker at the regular meet ing of the Garden and Civic club Wednesday afternoon at the civic center. Mr. Stasser lectured and showed slides entitled How to Grow Aza leas and Camellias. He also an swered many questions pertaining to gardening, planting and pest control. Five members were appointed by Mrs. E. M. Dewey, chairman, to represent the Garden club in the city-wide campaign to make More head City "Carolina's finest." These appointees are Mrs. Earle Mobley, recreation, Mrs. C. C. Council, school improvement, Mrs. Phillip Ball, city park, Mrs. Dewey, beau tification and clean-up, and Mrs. G. C. Davis, city library. Four door prizes were given and ice cream and home made cake were served. Mrs. Skinner Chalk, jr., was elected chairman of the Literary and Art department of the More head City Woman's club at the meeting Tuesday night at the civic cen^r. Vice-chairman is Mrs. A. F. Chestnut and Mrs. A. B. Morris was re-elected secretary-treasurer. The report of the nominating committee was made by Mrs. Wal dron Bailey, jr. Serving with her on the committe were Mrs. Charles Canficld and Mrs. W. L. Derrick son. Mrs. Chalk succeeds Mrs. A. B. Roberts who has served as chair man during the past two years. During the business session the group gave a rising vote of thanks to Mrs. Roberts and to the officers who served with her. Lincke, 81, died at his ome at 804 Evans st., Morehead ity, Wednesday morning from a eart attack. Funeral services were held hursday morning at 10 o'clock at le home with the Rev. Leon ouch and the Rev. Dr. John H. unn, Morehead City ministers, of ciating. Burial was in the fam y cemetery at Nashville Thursday fternoon. Mr. Lincke, son of the late Paul 1. and Susan Frances Renfrew j incke, was born in Nashville. He had spent most of his life in ash county and. with his brother, le late M. W. Thompson was hostess Wednesday at a bridge luncheon honoring her sister, Mrs. Thomas Woods of Clarkton and Mrs. Sam Bobbitt of Raleigh. The living room, dining room and den, where tables were ar ranged for play, were beautifully decorated with blooming azaleas, tulips and snapdragons. Upon arrival of the guests, a luncheon plate was served, after which four progressions of bridge were played. When scores were compiled, Mrs. Darden Eure was high and won a "krispy kan." Mrs. Alvah Hamil ton, second, received a set of oil and vinegar cruets. For consola Ition prize, Mrs. H. L. Joslyn re ceived a sandwich knife. Traveling prizes were won by Mrs. George Eastman and Mr?
