Scott and their daughter left Sunday for their home in New London, Conn., after a visit here with his parents. Mr. William Muse left for his home in Petersburg, Va , Sunday after a visit with his sister, Mrs. A. B. Bradsher. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Carrow of Philadelphia, Pa., are here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jones. Mrs. Charles Manson, jr., was called to Fayetteville Sunday be cause of the critical illness of her husband who is in the Veteran's hospital there. The Rev. and Mrs. T. R. Jenkins and their daughter, Jeanne, left Monday for a two weeks stay at Lake Junaluska. A 2/C Ottis Jefferson, jr., left Wednesday for Biloxi, Mass., where ho is stationed with the Air Force. He spent a 10-day leave with his parents. Mrs. Jefferson and his grandmother, Mrs. Sidney "Waters, took him to Goldsboro where In boarded the train. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Styron of Baltimore. Md.. and Washington. D. C., spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Loftin. Rosemergy and her mother and son of Norfolk spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. E. A. Hush. Mrs. A1 Cubbagc left for New Jersey Saturday after a short stay at her home on the West Beaufort road. Mrs. F. M. Penner and son, Frank, left Monday for Tucson, Ariz., after a weekend stay at In let Inn. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Windley and children have moved to their new home at Russell's Creek. The Rev. Stanley Potter of Hen derson is spending his vacation with his family who are staying at their home on Queen street. Mrs. John Angel and daughter, Kathie, of Akron, O., spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. W. I. Lottin. Mrs. Angel is the for mer Ann Fouch, a Duke student at the Marine Laboratory. She has just completed her internship at Johns Hopkins hospital and will go into private practice in Akron. Miss Margaret Dill Lucas of Greensboro arrived Sunday for a week's visit with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dill. Frank Rittcr will arrive here Saturday from Norfolk, accom panied by Mrs. Lee Flaughter cou sin of Mrs. C. S. Maxwell, who will spend several days with the Max wells. Mr. Hitter-, with his family who has been visting at the Max wells, will return home Sunday. Accompanying the Rltters to 1 Norfolk Sunday will be Mrs. Hit ter's sister, Mrs. Harry Tyler and family, who will visit in Norfolk * until Tuesday when they will leave by plane for their home in Texas. The Tylers have two children, Charlotte and Karen. Lt. and Mrs. Lindsey W. Hill, who have been visiting their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Hugh Hill and Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Outlaw of Efftabeth City, left Wednesday for their new home in Panama City, Fla., where Lt. Hill will be station ed. Mr. and Mrs. George Taylor en tertained at an outdoor party and weinie roast Friday afternoon to honor their great nieces and great nephews. Miss Virginia Davis and Miss Dorothy Pake, both of Highland Park, left Friday for Butler, Pa., for a visit with relatives. Dr. N. T. Ennett spent Monday in Raleigh where he attended a meeting of county health officers. Lt. Commander Robert H. Hill, USN, and Mrs. Hill and their daughter, who had been visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. Hugh Hill, left Monday for their home in Jackson ville, Fla. Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Coleman and daughter, Bonnie, have returned to their home in Anderson, S. C.t after spending the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Math Chaplain. Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Bell and four children of Pemberton. N. J., spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. George Laughton. Paul Heachem ObteAue Qolden Wedding AwuveManty JJuly 6 Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beachem of Beaufort celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary Sunday, July 6, at their home on the North River road Their nine children and families were present as well as three of the attendants at wed ding July 2, 1902. The wedding at tendants were Mrs. M. D. Pridgen, Beaufort and Chapel Hill, Mrs. John Styron, Norfolk, and Mr. J. F. Fulcher, Beaufort. The children who helped their parents celebrate were Mrs. Lucy Gilgo, Oriental; Hardy K. Beachem, Charlotte; R. C. Beachem, Newport, R. I.; Mrs. A. B. Campbell, San Diego, Cal., Mrs. H. V. Tocce, Nor folk; Mrs. G. L. Barker. Oriental; Paul B. Beachem, jr., USN, Peters burg, Va.; Thomas E. Beachem. Beaufort and Norfolk; and Cedric D. Beachem, State college, Raleigh. Fifteen grandchildren and two ?reat grandchildren were present. A buffet dinner was served 80 guests prior to the open house when 200 friends and relatives call ed. Heading the receiving line was Mrs. John Ratcliffe, Washington, N. C. Receiving the guests also ?vere Mr. and Mrs. Beachem and ;heir children. The home was artistically de corated with golden gladioli, carna tions, baby's breath, and mari golds. There were two tiered wed iing cakes, one presented by the North River Methodist Sunday school and decorated with bride ind groom and frosted gold bells and another decorated with gold leaves and yellow rosebuds. The ?akes were nestled in southern smilax and baby's breath and were placed between double candelabra A'ith golden candles. Serving punch were Mrs. Char les Phillips and Mrs. Louis Butts ind cake was served by Miss ! Three Couples Place High In.Monday Bridge Tourney Winners of the duplicate tourna ment Monday night at the Amer ican Legion hut in Beaufort were: North-South, first Mr. L. C. For rest, Mr. S K. Hedgecock; second, Mrs. James D. Burnley, Mrs. Hilton Hill; third, Mrs. J. S. Steed, Mrs. Floyd Chadwick. East West, first, Dr. D. J. Eure, Bud Dixon; tied for second and third place were Mrs. Don Martin. Mrs. J. C. Keel and Mrs. B. O. Ket ner and Mrs. Leland Day. The bridge tournament which is 4 held each Monday night at 7:30 at the hut. is sponsored by the Cart eret County Bridge association which is affiliated with the Amer ican Contract Bridge league. The Gladys Coz anti Mrs. Zara Pake. Mr. and Mrs. Beachem were born in Pamlico county but moved to Carteret with their families in 1900. They were married at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Hunn ings, the bride's parents, about 200 yards from the location of the pre sent Beachem home. The Hunn ings' home was destroyed in the storm of 1933. The Beachems have always lived in a home at the site of the pre sent one. Mr. Beachem was a fish erman until 1910 when he turned to farming. He retired in 1949. Guests presented the couple with crystal ware, a vacuum cleaner, bed linens, pictures, chinaware. glassware, jewelry, towels, and the children gave their parents a 400 day Schatz gold mantel clock. Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Phil lips and daughter. Barbara Ann. Greensboro; Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Butts and daughters Sarah Ann and Louise, Halifax; Mr and Mrs. John Ratcliffe and children. Harriet, Nancy, and John III. Washington. Helen J. Herrington, Newport. R I ; Mr. and Mrs. James McCoy. In telaken, N. Y.; Mrs. Mollie Beach em. Hartford. Conn.; E. M. Knight, Halifax; and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Cholefax and daughter, Donna, Willimantic, Conn. Guests at Inlet Inn Mrs. Isabella Jordan of New Bern, and Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Par ker of Media. Pa., are guests at Inlet Inn.
