George Howard, who is sta tioned at New York, spent the weekend at home. Mrs. Wesley Williams and chil dren of Raleigh have been visiting her mother for some time. Mr. Williams spent the weekend here and they returned home Sunday. Mrs. Pmllip Taylor and daugh ter will return to Raleigh this weekend after spending some time at Atlantic Beach. Mrs. Grimes Haywood and Miss NetUe Haywood of Raleigh will arrive at Atlantic Beach today for a visit. and Mrs. Jim Carr and Mr. and Mr?. William Oliver Smitii and daughter. James Herbert Miller, formerly of this city. Mrs. C. B. Arthur and D. G. Bell attended the reception and dinner ?t the Cherry Point Air Station Wednesday night honoring the commandant of the Marine Corps, General Lemuel C. Shepard. Dr. Richard S. Aldrich of New Brunswick, N. J., spent the week end with his sister and family, Dr. and Mrs. Eugene Roeiofs. His wife and children, who had been visit ins here for a week, returned with him on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Royal and daughter, Mrs. Tressa Vickers left Wednesday for a few days at their camp, llrs. Warren Beck and three chil dren spent the weekend in Troy with her mother, Mp. C. C. Howell. Mrs. Howell returned with them for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Rupert Earle Willis had as their guests Monday, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Ramsey and family of Hyattsville, Md. The Willis' en tertained them Monday night with a hamburger fry and watermelon cut About ten of the immediate family were invited guests. George H. Olsen arrived in Fair banks. Alaska, last Friday for a va cation. He will return home soon. Mr. Olsen made the trip alone and motored there in 12 days. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Wade and children, Kathleen and Ralph are expected to leave tomorrow for a month's visit with her family in Stombaugh, Mich. Mrs. Wylie Smith had as guests this week Mrs. Paul Garrison, Mrs. J. N. Longest. Mrs. George Bagley, Mrs. Richard Griswold, and Mrs. Norwood Holms of Goldsboro. Mr. Charles B. Wade, Jr., motor ed here from Winston-Salem Mon day to bring his parents home. Mr. Wade, sr., has been a patient in the hospital there. Charles, jr., will return home Sunday with his wife who is expected to arrive this weekend. Mrs. Archie O'Connell of Bass spent the week with her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Wade. Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Moffatt of Ashland, Ky., arrived yesterday for a visit with Mrs. Moffatt's father, Earle Webb. They are cnroute to their home from Myrtle Beach, S. C. Mrs. L. A. Young Women's Auxiliary Attends Picnic Meeting The Young Women's auxiliary of the First Baptist church met Wed nesday afternoon and evening at the summer home of their coun selor, Mrs. John Lashley, on Coral Bay. They swam in the afternoon and then had supper on the front porch. Hot dogs, baked beans, potato chips and pickles were served, fol lowed by watermelon on the lawn. The program followed supper and tbe president, Annette Guth rie, was in charge. She conducted the devotional and presided at the business session. Worthwhile com munity missionary projects were discussed and Ann Carlton con ducted a Bible quiz. The group sang hymns around the organ and closed their meeting with sentence prayers. Ice cream was served to conclude the meeting. Special guests were the three girls from the Kennedy home who are visiting this week in Horehead City. He will be a platform speaker there and also teach one of the courses. Guest speakers in First Methodist church Sunday, due to his absence will be the Rev. Louie Lewis of Morehead City who will speak on The Message of the Lord, at the 11 o'clock service and the Rev. Russell Speoce of Goldsboro, speaking on Forgetting God at the 8o'.clock service. Mrs. Charles Stanley Hostess to Club Tuesday Mrs. Charles Stanley was hostess to the Book and Bridge club Tues day night at her home at Crab Point. Assistant hostess was Mrs. Gordon Laughton. Three progressions of bridge were played and during play the hostesses served chocolate cake, nuts and iced drinks. High score winner was Mrs. David T. Willis who was given a dcmitasse cup and saucer. Mrs. Fred Lewis was presented with a set of plastic bowl covers as second high prize. Low score went to Mrs. George Nelson who won a pot holder and dish cloths. Clarence F. Bell, Jr., Weds Jeanine A. Attending the wedding were the parents of the bride and groom. Mrs. Bell is making her home with her parents while Mr. Bell, who is in the Coast Guard, is stationed in Norfolk.
