Ward's hobby is tropical fish,

traits. They get sick with such ail

colds. Ward has devised his own
;fish food composed of everything
from baby cereal to Epsom salts.
"Fish get as nervous as humans
sometimes," he says, recalling the
TV debut of his fish. One variety,
the "badis badis," got stage Jitters
when doing a balancing act on
Ward's hand.

Refugee Graduates From
High School, Gels Papers
Pittsburgh, Pa. (AP)? A young
married woman who couldn't speak
a word of English when she came
to America as a refugee in 1946
has since graduated from high
school and recently she became an
American citizen.
Mrs. Irene Hosier had been jail
ed and persecuted in Poland be
cause of her race and religion. Her
husband Engene, who has his first
papers, didn't have 30 cents when
he came here in 1947 but now has
a grocery store.

Switzerland was a high school girl
here, one of 22 carefully selected
European youths who came to
Nashville as guests of Youth In
corporated to help further interna
tional understanding.
Now IB, Claire flew back here
from Switzerland recently to en
ter Vanderbilt university as a
freshman. She was met at the plane
by many of the friends she made
two years ago. "Coming to Van
derbilt has been my greatest am
bition," she beamed.
Last year Vanderbilt offered
scholarships to all 22 of the Euro
peans. Claire was the first to take
up the offer.
