C&D Lays Plans
For Workshops
Industrial development work
shops designed to help local com
munities and groups in their indus
try-seeking efforts will be held in
every county of the State this
year, according to Director Ben E.
Douglas of the Department of
Conservation and Development.
Douglas said development engin
eers from the C&D Department's
Commerce and Industry Division
will attend each of the workshops
to help local groups with their
planning for new industries.
Those interested in forming
workshop groups in each county
are urged to write the Director,
Department of Conservation and
Development, Raleigh, N. C..
Director Douglas said the Depart
ment of Conservation and Devel
opment is planning to give local
communities more assistance in the
future in their industry-seeking ef
forts than it has been able to give
in the past.
"We want these development
.workshops to be real cooperative
efforts on the part of local com
munities and the Department of
Conservation and Development in
the efforts being made to bring
more industrial payrolls into North
Carolina and thus help raise the
per capita income of North Caro
linians," Douglas said.
In the stepped-up efforts to bring
more industries into the State,
Douglas said the Department of
Conservation has added new per
sonnel to its commerce and indus
try division.
