Frost and the Melody Boys proved
to be a very interesting program.
A lirg* crowd was present and
everyone enjoyed the music.
The Misses Evelyn Gaskill and
Shirley Taylor took a trip on the
boat. Donna K, owned by James
Wallace Taylor, to Englehart and
Stumpy Point. They went to visit
Mr. and Mrs. Hildred Golden, who
live at Stumpy Point. Later reports
on the radio-telephone stated that
both girls had a case of sea sick
ness.
Braxton Dickenson, son of Mrs.
Laura Dickenson, had to go back
to the Marine Hospital in Nor
folk for treatment. We wish for
him a speedy recovery.
Blanchard Lupton and family of
Harkers Island visited his grand
mother, Mrs. Deliah Lupton, Sun
day.
A television set has been install
ed in the home of J. W. Taylor.

Broadway I came across Dina
Shore, an elegant songstress. We
chatted about show business and
she told me a young singer who
achieved fame on her program now
is known as Lena Horne. How
ever, Dinah said, in those days
Miss Horne was billed simply as
"Helena.' Miss Horne wanted a
single name then.
Once upon a time the only con
cern of Broadway drama editors
was when "Abie's Irish Rose" pass
ed another anniversary. Now we
have a similar situation where the
Rodgers and Hammerstein musi
cals, "South Pacific" and "Okla
homa!" are setting new local and
national records.
Sometimes you yearn for the
days when Flo Zlegfield was pro
ducing the "Follies." At that time
he was presenting his show at the
Globe Theater in the middle of
Times Square. That particular
"Follies" was about to set a long
run record and the late Walter
Kir.gsle.V reminded Ziegfield that
within the next two or three nights
that the "Follies" would break the
record for musical shows.
Ziegfield closed the show that
weekend. I asked him if he was
going to reopen the "Follies," or
if he was going to produce a new
"Follies" with different stars. He
said he didn't know, that it de
pended upon what kind of real
estate deal he could make.
The musical comedy, "Wish You
Were Here," has brought about an
unusual labor problem. In this
show there is a big swimming pool.
Actors dive into the pool in swim
ming costumes which are checked
off as expense of the production.
Recently the actors demanded soap
for their baths.
