The parents if a dead baby remained silent in Family Court last week while a judge took them to task for their refusal on religious grounds to per mit a blood transfusion which night have saved the infant's life. The 8-day-old baby died on Jan. 14. several hours after the parents refused to sign a waiver which *ould have permitted an immedi ite Family Court hearing on the question of legally forcing a trans fusion. The parents, Thomas Grzyb, 20 ind Barbara. 18, are members of he Jehovah's Witnesses religious sect. Judge Thomas E. Kluczynski de dared in court that the parents "held everybody else from help ing the child, while the child's life uas ebbing away by minutes and seconds." The judge said the Illinois Su p rente Court has held "that par ents have no right to impose their religious beliefs on a third person to cause the death of that person ." The parents had been summoned into court on a petition to declare them unfit parents and make their infant a ward of the state. How ever. Judge Kluctynskl dismissed the petition after the parents at torney said that sine* the child was dead, there was no further is sue involved.
