Bride-Elect Entertained

Miss Betsy Thornton, who will
be married Saturday, March 6, to
Mr. Nelson Taylor Lewis Jr. of
Beaufort, was honoree at a dessert
! bridge party Wednesday evening.
Hostesses were Mrs. A. B. Vick Jr.
of tills city, and Mrs. S?m Gibbs
of Beaufort. The party was at the
home of Mrs. Vick.
Ice cream molds and cakes were
served befofe play. Mri. S. W.
Thompson Jr. won high score, Mrs.
Arthur Johnson won low and Miss
Thornton the floating prize.
Mrs. Vick presented the honor
ee with a teapot in her chosen
pattern of china and Mrs. Gibbs
presented her with a gravy boat in
the china.
The home was decorated with
white chrysanthemums and cam
ellias.

Officers at Monday Meeting

Webb Memorial Presbyterian
Church met for their first general
meeting of the new year. The fol

Mrs. Howard appointed two com
mittees for this year. Mrs. Kellofcf,
publicity and Mrs. Phillips, Mrs.
Carroll Morgan. Mrs. Conyers, and
Mrs. Joe DuBois, programs for the
year.
Mrs. Kenneth Prest, chairman of
world missions, made a report of
her work. She announced that Dr.
Joseph Hopper, a missionary to
Korea, would make a talk on his
work there, Wednesday afternoon,
Feb. 10, at the church. She in
vited members to attend, bring
their husbands and all friends who
would be interested in hearing Dr.
Hopper.
Delegates were selected to at
tend the Presbyterial in Wilming
ton Tuesday. They were Mrs. J.
W. Jackson and Mrs. John James.
Alternates are Miss Eva Sanders
and Mrs. J. D. Holt.
Mr. Conyers gave the program
for the evening. He spoke on "The
Presbyterian Church Government
and Organization." The meeting
was closed with prayer by Mr.
Conyers.

To Lanier Club Tuesday

charge of the program on travel

Book Club met at the Civic Center.

vice will begin at 11 and the eve

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ray Ball,
who are stationed in Wainmanalo,
Oahu, Hawaii, with the Coast
Guard, announce the birth of a son,
Saturday, Jan. 23. Mr. Ball is
the son of Mrs. George Purifoy of
this city.

Mr. and Mrs. Braxton Bragg Hall

day, Jan. 25, in the Morehead City
Hospital. Mrs. Hall is the former
Edith Davis, daughter of Mr. and
