program tonight. Its theme will he

Miss Daisy Walker, supervisor of
elementary schools for North Caro
lina. along with Mrs. Hankins,
county supervisor, attended the
regular supervisors' meeting and
Carteret County NCTA meeting
Tuesday at W. S. King School. Miss
Walker expressed appreciation of
the interest and enthusiasm that
teachers of the county have toward
improving learning facilities in the
county.
W. S. King students are now en
joying a flag and flag pole for the
first time since the school building
was erected. The flag and pole were
made possible through efforts of '
the PTA.
The New Bern Area Omega Psi
Phi fraternity, including Ft. Barn
well. New Bern, Bayboro, Vance
boro. Jacksonville, Beaufort and
Morehead City, will present its an
nual Musical Talent Hunt Sunday,
Feb. 14. at W. S. King auditorium
at 4 p.m.
Contestants will appear from all
towns mentioned above including
Richlands and Harlowe. Several
non-competitive numbers will also
be on tha program.
These will include Mr. Smith of
the W. S. King faculty, and his
organ; Abo Thurman, Mrs. Sarah
Wind ley, and Miss Day, of Queen
Street School; and Klijah Wells,
Woodington School of Richlands. 1
The program promises to be big
ger and better than ever. An ad
mission charge will be made to
foster the scholarship program
sponsored by Omega Psi Phi.
Several students are now attend
ing universities and colleges
throughout the country as a result
of the Omega Talent Hunt. Jackie
Harper, last winner from the New
Bern area, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. James Harper of Kinston, is
attending 11 ampton Institute,
Hampton, Va., on a $500 scholar
ship.

children and 50 cents for adults.
