S. King School PTA met recently in the school library in a round table discussion on "Parent and Teacher Relationship." Dis cussion leaders were Mrs. E. R Quick, who also served as chair man; Mrs. Dave David, Mrs. Shaw Becton, Mrs. S. R. Mcl^endon and Mrs. Helen Mason. Mrs. Quick discussed "Objec tives of Teacher and Parent Rela tionship." Production Snarls Delay Polio Serum Inoculations Due to delays in the manufacture of the trial polio vaccine the na tionwide validity tests are expected to get under way in late March or early April, it was announced today by Basil O'Connor, president of the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. Mr O'Connor said it had been hoped that the injection of school children taking part in the tests could begin in February, but be added: "We have been confronted with some of the usual production prob lems that have to be expected in the manufacture of any new pro duct. Added to these has been the length of time required to check and re-check the many processes in volved in converting the results of any laboratory research into commercial production on a large scale. More of the problems en countered is insuperable and all are being rapidly solved.'' Steps Complicated Preparation of large quantities of a trial vaccine involves a series of complicated steps, Mr. O'Con nor explained "The virus is grown in tissue cul ture, a new technique," he stated "Most of It is grown at the C6n naught Medical Research Labora tories of the University of Tor onto, where the tissue-cuture pro cess has been studied since 1949 under a grant from the National Foundation. More than sixty dif ferent ingredients are used to grow the virus in tissue culture, he said.
