Brotherhood Meets
The Brotherhood of the First
Baptist Church met at the home of
Mr. T. B. Smith Saturday night
with twenty-two members present,

and a business session was held,
followed by a social hour. Re
freshments of pie a la mode and
cold drinks were served. The
group sang a number of hymns ac
companied by Miss Raelene Smith
at the piano.
WMU Hold Meetings
Well attended meetings of the
W. M. U. Week of prayer for Home
Missions were held each night from
March 1st through 3th at the First
Baptist Church. The theme "God's
Holy Light" was used each night
with a program built around the
topics ? "for American Indians,"
'for European Americans," "for
Oriental Americans," "for Church
Expansion," and "for Americans."
Leaders were: Mrs. Emma Wade,
Mrs. Rosalie Davis, Mrs. Nancy
Garner, Mrs. Mabel Piner, and Mrs.
lona Garner. A devotional each
night was conducted by Mrs. Lu
ther Lewis and her daughter, Miss
Jean Audrey, soloist.
On Wednesday night a filmstrip

Saturdays when the Fighting Irish
play on their own gridiron.
An average of 10,000 cars and
many busses also converge on the
Notre [tame Stadium in the hours
before game time.
Many of the special trains unload
passengers on spur tracks on the
campus. Other trains transfer pas
sengers to campus-bound busses in
nearby South Bend.
The four railroads serving South
Bend hire up to 400 extra employ
ees to service the specials. Ar
rangements for some of the spatial
trains are made a year in advaace.
Specials come from such far
flung points as Denver. Atlanta.
New York and cities in Texaa and
Oklahoma.
In 1947 for the last Army-No
tre Dame same, a record 51 spe
cials arrived at South Bend.
