Churches to Join
In Relief Crusade
Many churches in the county will
join with thousands of others in the
United States Sunday in beginning
a week of special emphasis on the
ministry of the churches to those
in need in foreign lands where war,
famine and natural disasters have
left millions homeless, hungry and
destitute.
On the following Sunday, March
28. special offerings will be made
in the churches in response to the
"One Great Hour of Sharing" ap
peal of the 1954 United Appeal of
major Protestant and Eastern Or
thodox denominations for support
of their programs of overseas re
lief, rehabilitation and reconstruc
tion.
More than $8,000,000 will be re
quired in 1954 for the individual
and cooperative relief programs of
the denominations supporting the
United Appeal, which is sponsored
by the Department of Church
World Service of the National
Council of the Churches of Christ
in the U. S. A.
