Down Our Way
? 4*MB8 ?. W0ITEHUK8T
We think we have one of the
most interesting job* in thia sec
tion . . since we have the oppor
tunity of going around and aeeing
the iosjde of ao many homea. We
would be reluctant to give up thia
phase of our work ? we see so
many pleasing decorating schemes
in going from home to home.
Oftentimes when we go in a
home to meaaure for Venetian
Blinds we are only aware of the
-windows, so intent are we on get
ting the correct measurements, ate.
But when we return we are able
to get a look at the home decora
tions.
Many of you ladies would enjoy
making the rounds, as we do, and
seeing all the lovely interiors of
homes. We travel and do business .
through four counties regularly,
and it is impossible to mention the
names of the home-makers who
have the lovely homes ? there are
just so many of them!
Homes ' and their interiors are
like people - all built along the
same general lines . . . but all SO
DIFFERENT. We never go into a
home unless we see at least one
thing that we have never seen be
fore ? it may be a lovely antique
... or it may be something very
new on the market. It is quite in
teresting to see the extent some
ladies go to in converting a house
into a home.
Homes very often denote the per
sonalities of the people living with
in them. Years ago we went into a
strange home at Camp Lejeune.
... It had an oriental decorating
scheme and every book in the book
case was on some phase of oriental
life. So we were not at all sur
prised to later learn that the
colonel and his wife had spent
many years in China. This is an
extreme case, but every home re
flects to a greater or lesser degree
the personalities of the people liv
ing there.
And what sparkling personalities
the ladyfolks havp nowadays, judg
ing from the lovely home interiors
they are creating . . . !
Several months ago we sold Mr.
A. F. Fleming, of Grimesland and
Atlantic Beach, eight Clearview
Glass Louvered Doors for a motel
he is building at Atlantic Beach.
Now Mr. Fleming is getting five
more Clearview Doors for a new
addition to the motel ? BECAUSE
he liked the first order of Clear
view doors so much!
JALOUSIE JIM says: "We have
aluminum jalousies OR outside Ve
netian Blinds for inclosing porches
for better summer use ? and ab
solute privacy. Aluminum jalousies
may be used on windows instead
of other types of awnings, especial
ly where the wind blows so hard.
Aluminum jalousies are ideal for
summer homes that are closed up
two-thirds of the year ? and they
tend to minimize break-ins. If in
terested, give us a buz for a FREE
ESTIMATE."
We saw Cap'n Charlie Norcom in
Beaufort the other night ? the
first time we have seen him in thir
ty-two years. The last time we saw
him was the night before he moved
away from Carteret County ? he
r.ent into Mr. Richard Dickinson's
store to tell some of hi* friends
goodbye. Cap'n Charlie, by the
way, is cousin of Mayor "Pat" Dill,
of Morehead City.
The Frank Kings arc building a
new home just east of the
W. C. U. N. C. lab on Front Street,
Extension. This is a very nice lo
cation, and they are preserving
many of the trees that were grow
ing there. These will add much to
the natural beauty of the surround
ing.
We had a nice chat with Mrs.
Charlea Tolson the other day. We
say "chat" ? Mrs. Tolaoa did moat
of the chatting and we did most
of the laughing. Mrs. Tolson is
very humorous amf we enjoy talk
ing with her. Some of you may not
remember it, but Mrs. Tolson was
at one time post mistress of More
head City.
Many folk* are now replacing
their conventional outside doors
with Clearview Glass Louvered
Doors. Since the Clearview doors
also have the screen Included ?
this does away with the conven
tional screen door.
The Milton Llpmans are replac
ing one of their outside doors with
a Clearview Glass Louvered Door,
with opaque glass louver*. This
will permit the light to go through,
but give abaolute privacy, with con
trolled ventilation.
This column, "Down Our Way,"
waa written up in "CLEARVIEW8"

published by the Clearview Louver
