SBI Catches H&N Burglars Craven county law enforcement officials have been notified by State Bureau of Investigation Agent Clyde Fentress that two Kinston boys have admitted breaking into the H&N Chevrolet Co. at Have lock March 17. Fentress told Sheriff Charles Berry by telephone Sunday that Ed Sparrow and Edgar Davenport, both of Kinston had admitted the break-in at Havelock as well as several others in Eastern Carolina. Capture of the two boys came after a wild chase through Eastern Carolina which started in Wilson ' and continued through Tarboro and i back to Wilson. The Havelock motor company I was burglarized March 17 and ap proximately $300 or $400 removed j from the safe. The safe was car ried from the building by the two boys in a car which was parked in the shop of the motor company and later carried to Bryan's hunt ing camp and broken open. A crew of workmen found the safe several days later. Station to Be Park Office Nags Head?Old Bodie Island Coast Guard station between Nags Head and Oregon Inlet will soon become the administration build- j ing of Cape Hatteras National Sea shore Recreational Area, Allen Hanks, superintendent of this new and first seaside unit of the Nation al Park System, announced today. Already the old station building, i inactive as a Coast Guard unit since World War II, is undergoing conversion for the purpose it will serve until the permanent adminis tration building is constructed at the northern limits of the National Seashore. At the present time Hanks, who came here from Everglades Na tional Park to assume his super intendency duties on March 1, is making his temporary headquar ters in the Governor White cottage at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site on Roanoke Island. In addition to converting the old Bodie Island station building into a modern administration building, plans call for building entrance . highways and a parking area from nearby Nags Head-Hatteras all paved highway to the building site. Newport Hopes To Win Contest Newport is out to win the Fin er Carolina Contest this year. Five projects have been selected. One is the erection of welcome signs at the north and south limits of the town on highway 70. The Businessmen's Association has un dertaken that project. The second is the laying of a water main, from the town tank, along the Nine-Foot Road to the business section. This project has been undertaken by the fire de partment. The third is a playground to be built by the Methodist church mem bers, the fourth is a new play area at the school and the fifth deals with highway safety.
