NEW REGULATION Fish-Food "Regulation No. 117: It shall be unlawful for any person to leave stakes, anchors, or buoys of any description while not being shrimp ed or fished in any of the chan nels, sloughs or shoals in Core Sound, Back Sound, Bogue Sound, Straits, North River, or their trib utaries." NEW REGULATION Oysters "Regulatien No. 17: It shall b* unlawful to take oysters with dredges in the waters of Cor* Sound, Back Sound, Bogue Sound, Straits, North River, Back Bay at Hog Island, and Newport River in Carteret County.' NEW REGULATION Oysters "Regulation No. 18: It shall be unlawful to take ' oysters with dredges in the following boun daries: Beginning at Ocracoke Lighthouse thence running in a straight line to what is shown on the chart as Ninefoot Shoal Bea con; thence a straight line to a beacon at the mouth of Wallace's Channel, thence a straight line to the beacon at Hodges Reef, thence a straight line to the beach shown on the chart as Swash Inlet, thence running with the beach back to Ocracoke Lighthouse." SUBSTITUTE REGULATION Fish-Food "Regulation No. 84 ? (20): It shall be lawful to set pound nets inside the following boundaries: Beginning at a stake 2,000 yards from the shore southeast one fourth south from Long Shoal Point and running 2,000 yards from the shore at the outside points with the curve of the main land to the two and one-half mile radius 2,000 yards from the shore south of Roanoke Marshes; thence north northeast a straight line 3,700 yards to a stake 700 yards south southwest from Roanoke Marshes Light; thence north one half west 600 yards to a stake 300 yards west from Roanoke Marshes Light; thence a straight line north Ar west one-fourth west 8,800 yard* to a stake (the old established line) approximately one-fffth the width of the .sound from Fleetwood Point; thence a straight line north west by north three-fourths north 8,000 yards to the Red Spar Buoy No. 4 a southwesterly course from Croatan Light; thence to the Red Can Buoy off of Caroon's Point; thence to a stake 1,550 yards a northeast course from the outside point of the mainland at Caroon's Point; thence to a stake 2,100 yards from the shore at Otter Point; thence to a stake 2,250 yards from the shore at what is known x the Claude Midgett Set; thence 2,250 yards from all the outside points with the curve of the shore to a stake 2,250 yards northwest from Sound Point." Morehead City, yesterday issued a remlndei on the special evangelistic ser vices to be held in the church be ginning Sunday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Vergil E. Queen, dis trict sujSerintendent of the Wil mington District of the Methodist Church, will be the speaker for services continuing through May 21. The series of services have been designated Seven Hours for Uod with emphasis on Christian be lief, self - discipline, and loyalty, Mr. Kemp said. The Sunday morning service top ic is "No Foundations." The even ing topic is "The Body of Christ." The service begins at 8 p.m. Monday's sermon is entitled "The Sphere of Salvation," and Tuesday's, "The Church and I." Fifty men, including State College ex tension officials, are expected. They will meet at the Beaufort postoffice at 10 15 and travel to the farm together. They will be the gUests of Miss Georgina Yeat man and Mrs. Mildred Mumford, owners and managers of the farms. The program includes observa tion and explanation of machinery and equipment, drainage and irri gation problems, pasture and crops, and a briefing on the livestock program. A barbecue luncheon will be served at noon at Miss Yeatman's home. Judge Finds 'Deacon Jones Guilty Tuesday I Ransom (Deacon) Jones was i found guilty of maintaining a pub I lie nuisance by Judge Earl Mason | in Beaufort Recorder s Court Tues day. Jones was ordered to pay | $29.15, a hospital bill, and court costs. A charge of selling non-tax paid whiskey was also lodged agalQdt Jones but he was found not guilty. I Jones, who lives on Queen Street, Beaufort, was charged with assault with intent to kill by Officer Mick Wade following a free-for-all at Jones' residence Sunday morning. Jones and two acquaintances, David Pringle and Ernest BarreU, were in the home along with Balr rett's wife and Jones' daughter, according to testimony. A scuffle started between Prin gle and Barrett and ended when Jones allegedly struck Pringle on the head with a hammer. Says Pringle Attacked Barrett told the court that Prin gle attacked him with a chair, knocking him down and then Prin gle drew a fazor. lie said he grabbed Pringle's hands and Prin gle bit him on the lip. Barrett's wife told the court that after Barrett had been knocked down she call for help and Jones entered the front room from the reac of the house. The scuffle took place in the front room. No one admitted seeing Jones hit Pringle with the hammer. Wit nesses testified that Jones yelled "Get Out. Get Out!" and the next thing Pringle was being carried out of the house. When Officer Wade arrived Prin gle was lying in the yard of Jones' residence unconscious. Jones' lawyer asked that the court find Jones not guilty because he said, Jones was defending his home and an invited guest. He also said that the state failed to show intent to kill, since Priogle was hit only once. Gene Smith, solicitor, said that Jones' place was "more or less a public place and not ? private do main." (Jones has been tried pre viously for having liquor on his premises). He also said that in tent to kill doesn't mean that one has to hit a person a dozen times. Warrant Amended Judge Mason ordered the war rant amended to running a public nuisance and said Jones must pay Pringle's hospital bill and costs of court. He ruled not guilty on the charge of selling bootleg whiskey t? Pringle was charged with fighf ing and public drunkenness an was sentenced to 30 days on th! roads suspended on two years good behavior. Barrett was charged with assault and public drunkenness. He was ordered to pay costs. Solicitor Smith wanted to drop charges against both Pi ingle and Barret f. but was overruled by Judge Mason.
