Mrs. Monroe, 42, has a master's degree In business but admits she had two strikes against her when she took over as the restaurant's director ? she was a woman and ?the owner's wife. But now, she says: "1 think I've proven I know a little about the business. It took until last month, but now I have the confidence of the organiza tion." Since she tackled The Meadows, Mrs. Monroe has changed both the content and format of the menus to please the women diners, and trotted out ponies, pony carts and loilypops for the junior patrons. She feels strongly that children in a show business family should not suffer from their parents activ ities and insists that Candace, 12, and Christina, 9, get proper school ing and affection. Cancjy and Christie would much prefer their father was a business man who came home' every night. Marines Plan Annual Reunion Camp Lejeune ? Personnel at New York's Hotel Astor are brac ing themselves for a Marine in vasion this summer. A couple thousand 1st Marine Division vet erans have picked the Astor as the site of their seventh annual re union Aug. 6-8. The veterans of Guadalcanal, Gloucester, Peleliu and Okinawa really threw a ball at the Astor in 11149. But the '54 bit, with World War II forces augmented bjr 1st Division veterans of Korea, promises to make the '49 show seem like a meeting of a sowing Circle. Hundreds of Lejeune marines who served with the 1st Marine Division are expected to lead the assault. While fun and the renewal of old acquaintances are some of the prime aims of the reunion, there will also be a serious side. A memorial service, honoring the di vision's dead, is planned. And the btisiness meeting will have on its agenda the scholarship fund, for the dependents of Division ma rines killed in action. The traditional banquet and ball slated Aug. 7, wHI again be the reunion high point, according to Herb McCallen, reunion chairman.
