Protests on New Road
Protests were voiced Thursday at
New Bern by Crav<u> Count y

the proposed location.
The new dual highway will car

City, just south of New Bern, from
a new Trent River bridge now un
der construction to a j>oint at
Havelock.
The highway will follow the
present road for most of its route

dangerous and inadequate. It is
the main traffic artery serving
Cherry Point, the world's largest
Marine Air Base, and also is heav
ily traveled by tourists and beach
goers.

that construction of the new road
is the "number one project" now
under study by the State Highway

promise and expect federal aid."
