Miss Lee Gould, RN, who has
| been visiting her parents, Mr. and
' Mrs. Dave Gould, has left for Tam
pa. Fla., where she will be on the
staff of the Tampa Hospital. Her
friend, who has been visiting her,
Miss Jean Cheatham, will be in
Tampa also. They were formerly
at Washington, D. C.
The Rev. and Mrs. John Gill of
the First Baptist Church, Warren
ton; his mother, Mrs. John Gill and
his sister, Patsy, of Henderson ar
rived Wednesday to attend the
funeral of Mr. Gill's aunt, Mrs.
Susie Fleming. They are guests of
Dr. and Mrs. John H. Bunn.
Dr. and Mrs. John H. Bunn have
returned from Goldsboro where
they visited their daughter and son
in-law, Mr and Mrs. James T. Vin
son, and children. From there
they went to Henderson to meet
Mrs. Bunn's sister. Mrs. Charles
Naprstet, who arrived from San
Diego, Calif., for a visit with rela
tives.
Mrs. H. F. Howell returned
Tuesday night from Twin Falls,
Idaho, where she had spent a
month with her daughter and son
in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn R.
Terry. While there she visited
Sun Valley, Warm Springs and
Shoshone Falls National Park.
Mrs. Ruth McRacken and daugh
ter, Bobbie, will leave Sunday for
their home in Scotland Neck after
spending two weeks with Mrs. Mc
Racken's mother, Mrs. L. L. Leary.
Mr. and Mrs. John Seitter and
children, her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
J. W. Taylor and daughter, Cath
erine, of Sea I>evel, left today for
Manteo to see The Lost Colony.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Young,
their daughter, and their grand
son, all of Melbourne, Fla., are
spending two weeks with Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Seamon and Capt. and
Mrs. Charlie Piner Sr.

Chapel Hill spent last weekend
with Dr. and Mrs. B. F. Royal.
Miss Betty Salisbury motored to
Mt. Olive Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Anderson
of Wilson and Atlantic Beach, left
yesterday for two weeks in Blow
ing Rock.
Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Cameron
have returned to* Durham after
spending several weeks here.
Mrs. Oliver H. Allen and daugh
ter have returned to Burlington
after visiting her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Maxwell.
Mr. O. J. Morrow was admitted
to the Morehead City Hospital
Monday for treatment.

Miss Ruth Willis was discharged

to spend a few days at their camp.
Mr. and Mrs. Robin Hood of
Washington, N. C., are visiting Mr.
and Mrs. Eugene Savage.
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Williams
and children have returned to
their home in Raleigh aftev visit
ing her mother, Mrs. Marjorie
Oglesby. Mrs. Williams and chil
dren have been here for several
weeks and Mr. Williams has come
down every weekend. Patty Ogles
by returned with them to spend
two weeks.
Miss Yvonne Hodges, daughter
of Mrs. Bill Warren, left last Wed
nesday for Washington. N. C., to
spend a month with relatives and
friends.
Mrs. Brown of Rockingham left
Wednesday after spending a week
with her son and his family, the
Rev. and Mrs. Noah Brown.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Warren and
children spent Sunday in Roberson
ville where they attended a family
reunion given in honor of Mr. War
ren's mother on her 63th birthday.
Miss Mary Ellen Rice is spend
ing this week in Summitt Point,
N. J., with relatives.
Mrs. Minnie Eubanks is spend
ing two weeks in Beaufort with
her son, Mr. Ivy Eubanks.
Sgt. and Mrs. Robert Melby and
sons. Bobby and Terry, of Cali
fornia arrived Sunday to visit her
parents. Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Guth
rie. at Salter Path. Sergeant Melby
will stay a month before leaving
for duty in Korea and Mrs. Melby
and sons will spent the next 14
months with her parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul D'Agostino
and two children, Gary and Carol,
left Saturday for their home in
Bridgeport. Conn., after spending
two weeks with her parents. Mr.
and Mrs. Leb Buck, and her sister
and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
C. J. Robinson and children.
Mrs. Frank Swindell, Mrs.
George McNeill, Mrs. Frank Moran,
Mrs. J. G. Bennett Sr.. Mrs. Walter
Davis, Mrs. John Lashley and Mrs.
J. W. Thompson Jf., left Tuesday
for Raleigh. There they will meet
Mrs. Dcedee McNeill who will ac
company them to Cherokee and
Ridgecrest. They will be away for
a week.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Guthrie have
returned to Ft. Myers, Fla., after
spending two weeks with Mrs. John
Nelson.
Mr. and Mrs. John Nelson Jr.,
who have been living in San Diego,
Calif., are spending this week with
his mother, Mrs. John Nelson.
They will teach in Raleigh this
winter.
Mr. George Daniels was taken to
a rest home at Stacy yesterday.
Class Meeting Postponed
The L. L. Leary Bible Class of
the First Baptist Church, sched
uled to meet Tuesday evening, will
not meet until Tuesday, Aug. 10,
because some of the officers are
spending a week at Ridgecrest The
class will meet with Mrs. J. G.

Catholics Complete Plans for Ice
Cream Festival Tomorrow Night
Last minute arrangements have*
now been completed for the aecond
annual Ice cream festival, to be
held on the groands of St. Eg
bert's Catholic Church, tomorrow
night between 7 and 10 p.m.
The latt committee meeting wai
held Tuesday night, with Mrs Dom
Femia, chairman, submitting ber
final report.
The town of Beaufort has again
lent its Christmas street lighting
system for use in lighting the area
of the festival. The local radio
station has loaned a public address
system for the entertainment pro
gram.

As previously announced, enter
tainers from Morehead, Beaufort
and Newport will lend their tal
ents to the show.
Ice cream, a drink and home
made cake will be included in the
admission price.
Maola Milk Company is donating
the ice cream that will be served,
and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company
rs donating the drink.
Mr. Vic Bellamah of Beaufort,
chairman of the arrangements, ex
pressed the gratitude of the com
mittee and of the church for the
generosity of these two companies.
Besides refreshments and enter
tainment, a bake sale and a white
elephant sale will be featured.
Tickets have been selling well in
the last two weeks, Mrs. Femia
reports, and they will also be on
sale at the gate throughout the
evening.
In case of bad weather, she said,
refreshments will be served in the
cars. Ample parking area on the
church grounds is available.
Engaged Couple Honored
At Dinner Monday Night
Miss Jean Morton and Mr. Tom
my Wetherington, who will be mar
ried Thursday evening, August 19,
in the Free Will Baptist Church,
were honored Monday night with a
dinner given at the Rex Restaurant.
Seventeen of their fellow em
ployees were present. They pre
sented Miss Morton with a yellow
gladioli corsage.
Mrs. Weeks Entertains
Bridge Club Last Week
The Thursday Night Bridge Club
met last week with Mrs. H. A.
Weeks at her home on Bridges
Street. Red roses were used to
decorate the home. Special guests
were Mrs. A. B. Vick Sr., Mrs. Wil
liam J. Cherry and Mrs. W. E.
Mereness.
Mrs. Gus Davis won high score,
Mrs. Cherry was second high and
Mrs. S. A. Horton won low. Mrs.
Weeks served nut sundaes and
wafers at the end of progressions.
Laughtons Welcome Son
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Laughton
of Crab Point announce the birth
of a son Tuesday in the Morehead
City Hospital.

try.
The Rev. Guthrie Colvard of
New Bern, associational mission
ary, will preach the ordination ser
vice and Dr. John H. Bunn, pastor
of the church, will present him
with the Bible and give the charge.
A council for the examination
of the Rev. Mr. Chance will be held
tonight at 8 o'clock in the church.
The public is invited to attend the
ordination service.
