Furniture
(Continued from Page 3, Section 2)
Fur Eastern rattan is freely used
on cabinet doors and chairs. Leath
er reflects a simple elegance.
Designer John Wisner empha
sized this with a room divider util
izing natural walnut, rattan, pig
akin, plastic panels and brass. A
rattan frame supports a china cab
inet of walnut. Pigskin leather tile
is used to decorate sliding doors
for the lower credenza. Raffia
strands are embedded in plastic
sheets used as sliding doors for the
upper china cabinet
Paul McCobb scaled down a hl-fl
unit of walnut-finished mahogany
to the small home or apartment.
He designed a bookcase-china
unit with solid bras* frame and
mahogany woodwork in sandrilt
tone.
George Nelson created a full
sized armchair scaled to look small.
It is upholstered in a soft green
fabric, has wide arm rests and
spindle-type legs of satin chrome
to give it a light appearance.
Harold M. Schwartz gives a bed
room group a delicate look with an
off-white edged headboard fram
ing a pink upholstered insert panel.
Contrasting night stands are of
natural finish oak. Sliding tambour
doors enable easy storage. Match
ing pink-upholatered oak benches
fit under the night stands.
G. McStay Jackson's modernized
captain's chair in ebony and maple
has a seat on an elevated platform
which rests on four springs to en
?bir the sitter to rock.
Indoor lighting has received at
tention by the National Home
Lamp Council. Its group ot 22
members displayed ? bowl-like
prismatic diffuser designed to pro
vide up to 100 per cent more
illumination than conventional
lamps.

Tractor Fleet
Now on display at Farm and
Home Supply Co. in Beaufort are
representative models of an entire
new fleet of Super tractors, re
cently introduced by The Oliver
Corporation.
There are five new Oliver trac
tors in all, including the popular
size general purpose models ? the
Super 66, Super 77 and Super 88.
Power leader of the group is the
Super 99, a 4-5 plow, standard-type
tractor. The Super 55, an all-pur
pose 2-3 plow model, was an
nounced last September.
"It's the most modern line of
larm tractors built," say Alex Gra
ham and Ivey Gillikin, owners of
Farm and Supply Co. "The new
models are far greater in horse
power, more economical to operate
and much sturdier in construction
than the tractors they replace. For
example, the Super 88 recently
established the gasoline economy
record in its class in nationally
recognized tractor tests."
Although the evidence is incon
clusive, many students believe the
horse was domesticated in the
Bronze age.
Builders
(Continued from Page ?. Section 2)
Uta our family living needs. For
"When TV tint came out, many
designer! asked: 'Should w? have a
room lor TV?' That haant been
settled, but we have definitely con
cluded we need a room to get away
from TV."
The speaker, John Highland of
the American Institute of Archi
tects, thereupon decided that "Any
home that doesat have a family
room as well as a living room is in
complete and thereby obsolete."
"The family room," be explain
ed, "should have a slate floor or a
vinyl or tile floor, or something
like that, so if the youngsters drop
anything on it, it won't stain, and
when we are entertaining, the floor
should be Martini-proof so we
don't have to run around behind
the guests with little coasters all
the time."
You may wonder what is to be
come of the living room or "com
pany room," as it seems to be. Not
many years ago, It was predicted
that the dining room was on its
way out ? that it cost too much to
build for the amount of time it was
used. Then dining rooms staged a
comeback.
If the living room now goes the
way of great-grandmother's front
parlor, maybe we'll just revive the
old-fashioned "sitting room" with
some comfortable rockers.
It sll depends on how you want
to live.
A modern railroad tank car may
have a capacity ef as much as 16,
000 gallons.
