No Summer School This Year;
PTA Gives Two Flags to School

The teachers have notified the
?tudents in high school that there
will he no summer school thi/
ye?r. It w*? decided that if the
students couldn't learn the course
in nine weeks they couldn't do jus
tice to it In six weeks. To the
students who ieel they're not doing
well, better get busy and pass.
Mr. Windell announced that the
Little Symphony will be in Beau
fort tomorrow at 2 p.m. This per
formance will be for the fourth to
eighth grades. Mr. Windell re
quests that parents aid in transpor
tation because the state busses will
not be available.
The Parent-Teacher Association
met on Monday, March 14. L*st
month the PTA gave $20 to each
teacher for the distribution of
funds for materials such as books,
clothes, aquariums, maps, electric
drills, and many ether useful class
room items.
Ttfey also gave $250 worth of
books to the school and bought
new flags for the auditorium. The
flags are the North Carolina and
the United States flags They are
made of silk and trimmed with
gold fringe.
We would like to extend our
thanks to the PTA for their work
and efforts.

Last Thursday the high school
saw a movie "^titled, The Good
Earth. The original story was writ
ten by Pearl S. Buck. The movie
was very interesting and revealing.
The second year home economics
girls served dinner to the Garden
and Civics Club at the civic center
last Wednesday.
The first year girls are beginning
on their sewing course. They are
making cotton garments.

cent and will be given a certificate
and a Rebekah pin.
