The daughter, entering tiie house through the front door, heard a Joud thud in the kitchen, and the man came out and said that the woman would be quiftt for a while, but he'd best go back to the kitchen and finish her off. Wrap Body in Blanket 'The man dul sg and then he and the woman's daughter wrapped the body in a blanket and plawd the body under the parsiyicd wife's bed. "The man tried several times to bury the body, but he had too much company at the house that j day. After placing the body back under his wife's bed, he and the 14-year-old took off. "They spent a week sleeping un der haystacks until finally the youngster said she was going to run away The man admitted that he thought about killing the young girl but decided instead to give himself up. He was found guilty by the jury of second degree mur der " Negro Preacher Involved Another case which stands out in the judge's memory, dealt with a Negro preacher in Orange County. In this particular case the NA ACP took a strong stand stating that the Negro was -going to be railroaded to the gas chamber by a Southern jury. Judge Hamilton stated that two Negro reporters from the Chris tian Science Monitor and the Bal timore Sun attended the trial and were shown every courtesy. After disclosing that the man had committed premeditated mur der and then tried to commit sui cide, the solicitor asked the jury to bring in a verdict of second de gree murder, which they did. Preacher Admits Crime The preacher admitted on the stand that though happily married he had been carrying on affairs with his choir leader and the mis sionary society president. He stated that he had decided to end the affairs by shooting the choir lead er and then killing himself. During a fond embrace he did kill the Choir leader, but the dif ferent ways he chose couldn't kill him. As a matter of fact he was brought into court that day all ban i daged up since his final attempt at self destruction had been by ; using a straight razor to cut his | throat. I The preacher was sentenced to 1 30 years in prison, where he died.
