Smith Ray, park superintendent, siiid 162, 736 visited the fort itself; 27,520 came to swim, and 19,938 used the picnic facilities. He estimated that 13,600 fish ermen used park beaches. The swimming area closed last night, but other areas of the park are still open to the public. "No Swimming" signs have been placed along the beach, and patrols will frequently check the area to see that no one is in the water. No one drowned at the park beach this year, and authorities are anxious to see a perfect season. Last year two teen-agers drowned I when they swam outside the marked swimming area. He was charged with steal ing a pickup truck, driving drunk and driving without a license. The 1950 truck was owne<f by McDonald Willis and was taken from in front of Willis's produce stand at 7th and Arendell Streets, Morehead City, Saturday night. Police said that Lewis returned the truck several hours later, | jumped out and ran. About an hour later, he was apprehended by Sgt.
