Literary, Art Department Sees Dance Program The pupiU of Mr. Tern Davit presented a dance review far the members of the Literary and Art Department Monday night at the civic center. The younger group presented several tap numbers. The older girls demonstrated the basic posi tions of ballet and then gave a ballet dance. Mr. Davis gave a short lecture. He was assisted by Mr. John Holland. The meeting was held at the civic center, which had been dec orated by Mrs Robert Taylor and Mrs. E. A. Council with holly, smilax and candles. Mrs. A. H. Sheppard was intro duced to the group as a new mem ber. The department will meet next on Jan. 14 at which time Mrs A. B. Roberts will speak on the life of Albert Schweitzer. After the business meeting, fruit cake and coffee were served. Hos tesses were Mrs. S. A. Chalk Jr., chairman, Mrs. Darden Eure, Mrs. Charles Markey, Mrs. Alvah Ham ilton, Mrs. C. N. Bennett and Mrs. W B. Chalk. Christmas Party to Be Given by Esther Rebekahs The Esther Rebekahs discussed their annual Christmas party at their meeting Wednesday night at the recreation building. The party will be held at the recreation build ing next Wednesday night. The Rebekahs are inviting their husbands and the Odd Fellows and their wives. Mrs. Victor Wickizer. noble grand, presided. She reminded the members of the square dance the lodge is sponsoring Saturday night. Music is by Ty Frost and admis sion is $1 per person. Hamilton's Inc. has donated a television lamp to be given as the door prize at the dance. Mrs. Eric Lewis, Mrs. Wickizer and Mrs. Dennis O'Neal served cookies and drinks to the sixteen members present. Baptist Bible Classes Hold Christmas Meeting The Fidelis and Lillian Wallace classes of the First Baptist Church met jointly Tuesday night at the home of Mrs. A. P McKnight. Mrs. Lillian Wallace had as the subject of her devotional Let Us Keep Christmas. Mrs. Rufus Ogles by gave a Christmas story and Mrs. Sue Oglesby read a poem, Christ is Born Indeed. Mrs. Ellen MSnn read The Beautiful'Old Story^ and A Christmas Benediction. The class members sang Christ [mftit carols, accompanied at the pmo by Mrs. Rachel Fulcher. Mrs. McKnight used the Christ mas motif in decorating her home. Assisted by her daughter, Polly Ann, she served jello, cake, nuts and mints. School Luncheon Menus For Week Announced Mrs. Earle W. Piner announces the following menus for Morehead City School lunchroom next week: Monday: Weiners on buns, big lima beans, carrot sticks, slaw, baked apples, milk. r Tuesday: Beef - vegetable soup, peanut butter, pimento cheese and meat sandwiches, oranges, cake miifflns with butter icing, milk. Wednesday: Hamburgers, ricfe and gravy, pickled beets, mixed greens, hot biscuits and butter, strawberry j e 1 1 o with whipped cream, milk. Thursday: Barbecue, buttered potatoes, slaw, cornbread and but ter, cherries, Chriftmas candy, milk. No lunch will be served on Fri day due to the Christmas holiday. St. Mary's Auxiliary Elects Two New Officer* St. Mary'i Episcopal Auxiliary met at the home of Mrs. Josiah Bailey Wednesday morning. Mrs. Hugh Stiles, chairman, presided. Mrs. A. H. Sheppard was elected secretary and Mrs. Irene Moore was elected treasurer. Each offi cer will serve one year. A collection was taken to helfr defray the cost of medical ex penses for some needy person. Mrs. Bailey, program chairman, read the Christmas story. A social hour was enjoyed following the meeting. Miss Patsy Holt played a piano solo. Miss Sabra Eubanks did a pantomime and Miss P? ggy Holt gave * clarinet solo. Ilie high light of the program came when Mrs. Tressa Vickers pantomimed to EJvis Presley's Don't Be Cruel. The lodge hall was decorated in the Christmas motif for the party. Gifts were placed under a beauti fully -decorated tree. During the social hour the gifts were ex changed Refreshments of cake, decorated in the Christmas theme, lime punch, candy and nuts were served. During a short business meet ing the women decided to meet at the lodge next Tuesday night to propare their food baskets and clothing, which will be distributed to needy families. The lodge will meet next on Jan. B, 1957. Newport Baptist Ladies Meet With Mrs. J. Hill The Ladies' Sunday School class ' of the Newport Free Will Baptist Church met recently at the home of Mrs. Joe Hill, Newport. Mrs. David Kirk, class president, presided. Those taking part in the | program were Mrs. Edna Hill, Mrs. Kirk and Mrs. Quinn, who \ read a story entitled Christ as a Countryman.
