Chuck Sledge, Barbara Holt Crowned School King, Queen Chuck Sledge was crowned king and Barbara Holt queen of More head City School at the PTA meet ing Monday night in the school auditorium. They were elected in a contest sponsored by Mrs. Ma mie Taylor's eighth grade prior to the postponed Haloween carni val. The high school chorus sang sev eral songs during the program. Miss Kathy Chalk and Miss Vir ginia Thompson were accompan ists. Songs included Now Let 'Every ! Tongue Adore Thee. The Sleigh, The Bells of St. Mary's, a medley of songs from Oklahoma and Hat tie Hymn ot the Republic. The chorus is directed by Ralph Wade. Miss Jonibcl Willis played for the processional and recessional of the king and queen and their court. They were crowned by Mayor George Pill. Crowned were Chuck Sledge, king. Barbara Holt, queen. John Hamilton, crown prince, and Mary Ixni Nelson, crown princess. Craig Barts and Kate Van Horn were crown bearers. Serving in the court were Ron ald Russell and Susie Morton, Ben Guthrie and Charlotte Willis, Lar ry Wade and Linda Stanley. Don aid Huston and Sara Davis. Billy Condie and Jenifer Guthrie, Billy Taylor and Nancy Nelson, Cecil Sewell and Carolyn Bullard, Sammy Moore and Jane Patrick,! Borden Wallace and Gail Swann, Ronald Mizesko and Janice Hall. Allen Conner and Rebecca Ha noy, David Hardison and Linda Lou Willis, Kenneth Broadhurst and Judy Willis. Leslie Webb and Deborah Jones, Ray Smith and Judy Morton. Following the program, Mr. Dan Swindell, president, thanked Mrs. Taylor's class and those who helped to make the program a suc cess. The executive board suggested I that a community supper be held , as a substitute for the fall car nival. The supper will be served I in the school lunchroom with a | program in the auditorium. Tic-1 kcts will be sold in advance. A committee was appointed to, make arrangements after the sug-1 gestion had been adopted. They i will report at the next meeting. Mr. Alfred Cooper was elected vice-president to finish the term of Mr. David Jones, who has moved to Norfolk, Va. Mr. Ralph Wade announced that the school band would present its winter concert iast night, lie also | announced that the North Carolina i Little Symphony would present two concerts in the school auditorium Feb. 18. The children's concert will be given at 2 p.m. and the adult con cert will begin at 8 p.m. Mr Clyde Burr announced that the band association is giving a banquet and dance for the band in appreciation of the work they have done this year. The banquet will be held tomorrow night at Rex Restaurant and the dance will follow at the recreation building. Attendance prizes were won by Mrs. Virginia Bradbury's third grade, Mrs Taylor's eighth and Mr. Walter Taylor's tenth garde. The meeting adjourned with, prayer by Mr. Lcnwood Lee, prin cipal. Mrs. Dick Parker Hostess To Tuesday Evening Club Mrs. Dick Parker was hostess to her bridge club Tuesday eve ning. Guests were Mrs. Jack Barnes and Mrs. Joe Higham. During progressions the hostess served nuts and colas. At the con clusion of play she served straw berry pie a la mode with coffee. , High score was won by Mrs. ; W. J. Cherry, second high by Mrs. J. R. Sanders and low by Mrs. Milton Mot'cy. Guest high went to Mrs. Higham. The club will not meet next week because of Camp Glenn PTA, but will meet the following week with Mrs. Bill White. Mrs. T. L. Noe Hostess To Friday Evening Club Mrs. Thomas Not- was hostess to her bridge club Friday evening at her home on Y a upon Terrace. Mrs. Alton Vick won high score prize, a set of coffee mats, and Mrs. Clyde Carr won low, a leave a-note box. During progressions Mrs. Noe served potato chips and coffee. At the conclusion of play she served fruit bars, date-nut squares, rib ron sandwiches, banana bread with pineapple-cheese spread and cof fee. Camp Glenn PTA Plans Valentine Dance Tonight The Camp Glenn PTA will spon-1 sor a valentine danee at the school j tonight to raise funds for the school inter-coin system. The > d.<nce will begin at 8 and last' until 12. Squdrd and round dancing will be enjoyed with Mr. Fred Parrish directing the square dances. Tic kets are $1 each. A door prize will be given. School Announces Plans For Carnival May 10 Final plans have been announced for the annual spring carnival of Annunciation School, Havelock. j The carnival will be held May 10 at the school. A Mother's Day theme was chos en because the carnival will be held the day before Mother's Day. Mr. J. J. Maloncy was appointed carnival chairman. There will be prizes for every one and valuable merchandise will be given to lucky individuals. Troop 97 Make* Tallies, Sees Pantomime, Skit Intermediate Girl Scout Troop OT met Wedneeday afternoon at the home of Mra. A. B. Roberta. We made 100 tallies for the Junior Woman's Club Girl Scout, bridge benefit. The tallies are shaped like our emblems. The Seashell Patrol presented a pantomime. Crazy Cat. Three girls in the Seaoats Patrol gave a skit giving pointers on babysitting. We drew names to see who would be in the picture telling about our cookie sale. Sandy Smith and Sally Goodwin will be in the picture with a Brownie. Mrs. Dom Femia, cookie chair man, came and told us about the cookie sale, which begins next Wednesday.
