Twelve little girls attended. For
entertainment, they played on the
merry-go-round, in the wading
pool, sand box and enjoyed other
play equipment in the back yard.
The birthday cake was fashioned
like a Maypole Pink, green and
white streamers led from a May
pole ir, the center of the cake to
individual cakes at each guest's
place. Jpe cream waa served.
Favors were balloons, hats mon
keys no a stick and horns.
William B. Murrill, USN, has
been promoted to communications
technician 3rd class. He is now
stjifjpqed at Kami ?eya, Japan,
but wdl be transferred in July to
llokkaifia, Japan Murrill is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Mur
fiil of Mprehead Cjfy and is a
graduate of Morehead City High

Mrs. C. G. Kemp, 78, of Lebanon,
Pa., died Tuesday night in Leb
anon. She was the mother of Mr.

Funeral services and burial were

is survived by five sons, two
daughters and a number of grand
children.

The funeral service for Mrs.
Eiva L. Hatsell, widow of the late
yfilliam hatsell, will be conducted

Methpdist Church, Beaufort.
Mrs. Hatsell, 67, suffered a heart
attack Wednesday afternoon at
her home on Queen Street. She
was born at Skyco on Roanoke
Island in Dare County and was
working on The Beaufort News,
now THE NEWS-TIMES, prior to
her marriage to Mr. Hatsell.
Mr. and Mrs. Hatsell later ac
quired the paper and she contin
ued to help her husband in the
publishing business.
Conducting the funeral service
will be the Rev. John Cline, pas
tor of Ann Street Church. Inter
ment will be in Ocean View Ceme
tery. The body may be viewed at
the church an hour prior to the
service.
Surviving Mrs. Hatsell is a
nephew, Robert Lane Davis, Beau
fort, and nieces and nephews at
Harkers Island, Norfolk and Man
