before returning home.

Sammons' have recently returned
from Okinawa and have been visit
ing relatives here and in Beaufort.

Two Hostesses Entertain
In Honor of Miss Roberts
Mrs. Harry Rivers and Miss El- j
Ion Bordeaux entertained at a card |
party Wednesday evening in honor
of Miss Beth Roberts, bride-elect
of July 5. The party was held at
the home of Mrs. Rivers' parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Piner.
Gladiolas and gardenias were
used in arrangements around the
living room.
High score was won by Miss
Roberts. The hostesses presented
her a cup and saucer in her china.
Mrs. Dougherty Honored

Mrs. Jerry Norris entertained at
a bridge party Wednesday in honor
of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Joe
Dougherty of Baltimore. Md., who
is visiting her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Louis Norris.
Mrs. Dougherty received a gladi
ola corsage and the other guests
received miniature corsages. Vari
ous colored gladiolas were used
(or decoration.
Mrs. Bill Pickard wn high score
and the floating prize. Mrs. David
Willis won low.
The hostess served ambrosia re
frigerator cake with ginger ale and
rainta. Colai and nuts were served
during play.
Recent Bride Honored
At Shower Last Week
Mrs. Floyd McChlng of Washing
ton, D. C., the former Doris Mc
Queen, was honored at a bridal
shower Ust Saturday afternoon at
the Rex Restaurant.
Sixteen guests attended. Refresh
ments of fruit punch, cake, chicken
?al?d sandwiches and nuts were
served. The honoree was showered
with lovely gifts.

became the bride of Lt. James El
liott Still, USAF, of Greenwood,
S. C.
The Rev. Walter Pond of Charles
ton, S. C., and the Rev. Albert G.
Harris Jr., pastor of the church,
officiated. Five seven - branched
canelabra and four baskets of
white gladiolas and greenery were
used to decorate the church. Fam
ily pews were marked with white
ribbon.
Mrs. TTieodore Phillips, organ
ist, and Mrs. Ralph Wade, solo
ist, provided a program of wedding
music prior to the ceremony. Mrs.
Wade sang Because, All for You,
and a Wedding Prayer. ??
The bride was given in marrUfce'
by her father. She wore a floor
length gown of re-embroidered
alencon lace fashioned with a
moulded bodice with scalloped sa
brina neckline and long sleeves
tapering to points over the hands.
The voluminous skirt featured an
inset panel of scalloped lace ruf
fles at the back. Three rows of
ruffles at the skirt bottom formed
a chapel train.
Her veil of trench illusion was
attached to a tiara of illusion with
points of white satin edged with
seed pearls. She carried a satin
covered Bible topped with a white
orchid and showered with satin
streamers and lilies of the valley.'
Mrs. Worthy W. McKinney of
Beckley, W. Va., sister of the bride,
was matron of honor. She wore a
white taffeta dress with a floral de
sign of pink and blue, featuring i
harem skirt and a blue inset at thi
waist ending in a butterfly bow i|
the back.
She wore a pink picture hat and
p|nk shoes and carried a nosegaj
of pink and white carnations.
Mr. J. D. Fleming Jr. of College
Park, Ga., was best man for th<
bridegroom. Ushers were Mr. Jack
Satterfield of Roxboro and Mr. Ed
ward Painter of Mt. Holly.
For her daughter's wedding Mrs.
Lewis chose a navy sheath dress
with white accessories and an or
chid corsage. Mrs. Still, mother
ol the bridegroom, wore a blue
gray lace dress with white acces
sories and an orchid corsage.
A reception was held in the Sea
Level Boom at the Morehead Bilt
more Hntel immediately following
the ceremony. Mrs. William G.
Guthrie of Morehead City greeted
the guests and introduced them to
the receiving line, composed of the
wedding party and the parents of
the bridal couple.
The Misses Jessie Mae and Ada
Laurie Murdoch of Wildwood pre
sided at the bride's book. Mrs.
Jesse E. Lewis of Morehead City
served the cake and Mrs. Elwood
R. Lewis of Newport poured the
punch.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. T. D. Lewis. She is a
graduate of Morehead City High
School and attended Aims Scott
College, Decatur, Ga. She was
chosen llisa Morehead City and
Miss Centennial in 1>57.
Lieutenant Still la the ton of Mr.
and Mrs. Conway L. Still of Green
wood, S. C. He graduated from
high school in Cheater, S. C., and
attended Georgia Tech before en
tering the Air Force.

Point.
The Rev. W P. Huff, pastor at
the church, officiated. Two floor
baiketa of white gladlolas and

ig lighted tapers were' used for
decoration in the church. The arch
way was entwined with white flow
ers and greenery and candles were
placed throughout the church.
Mrs. George Mizesko. organist,
and Miss Bernice Willis, soloist,
presented a program of nuptial
music prior to the ceremony. Miss
Willis sang Because, Entreat Me
Not to Leave Thee and The Lord's
Prayer.
The bride was given In marriage
by her uncle, Mr. M. A. Ebron.
She wore a street length dress of
baby blue batiste fashioned with
an embroidered bodice, featuring
a sweetheart neckline and cap
sleeves, and a full gathered skirt
with matching belt.
She wore a white clip hat with
nose veil and carried a white
prayer book topped with a white
purple-throated orchid showered
with white satin streamers.
Miss Judy Lewis was maid of
honor and the bride's only attend
ant. She wore a pink street length
cotton dress fashioned with a
fitted bodice with V neckline and
short sleeves and a full skirt.
She wore white accessaries and
carried a ballerina bouquet of
white carnations tied with blue rib
bons.
Sgt. Dearl Glenn of Cherry Point
was best man for the bridegroom.
Mr. Monroe Garner of Newport and
Mr. Ernest L. Whorton of More
head City were ushers.
Mrs. M. A. Ebron, aunt of the
bride, wore a blue lace dress with
white accessories and a corsage of
white carnations.

A luncheon was held at the More
head Biltmore Hotel Saturday at 1
p.m. for members of the Still-Lewis
wedding party and out of town
guests. Mrs. W. W. McKinney, sis
ter of the bride-elect, was hostess.

The Wednesday Mexican Canasta
Club of Goldsboro were guests of
Mrs. Robert Johnson of Goldsboro
at her summer home at Ho Ho Vil
lage Wednesday for lunch.
Following lunch, the members
went to the home of Mrs. Ira Long,
a former club member, for dessert
and cards. Mrs. Long served pine
apple punch and mints during play
and dewberry pie with ice cream
for dessert.
Mrs. Ruth Meacham won high
score, Mrs. William Britt was sec
ond high and Mrs. J. D. Pilse was
low.
Attending, in addition to the prize
winners, were Mrs. T. B. Dameron,
Mrs. Ralph Bolster, Mrs. J. V.
Riley, Mrs. John Thompson and
Mrs. Sam Edgerton.

ered with a white linen cutworlc
cloth and centered with an ar
rangement of white gladiolas and
candelabra holding white candles.
Coffee was served from a marble
topped cjiest.
The Misses Jessie Mae and Ada

bride, assisted in serving punch
and coffee. Guests were greeted
by Mrs. Elwood Lewis and good
byes were said to Mra. Jesse
Lewis.
